So much potential, needs to and can do better. It's the fourth time I've been and for now my last...I feel compelled to leave a review in the hope of improvement. My opinion becoming reinforced.
Walking into this place is like opening a beautifully wrapped present. But you know what? It’s a gift that’s already broken inside. We're talking about a picturesque gem situated in the best real estate Perth has to offer. But the experience goes off quicker than a prawn (or an oyster) in the hot Perth sun.
Right off the bat, the service is mind-bogglingly slow. I'm talking 7 tables on the rooftop, barely 15 customer, downstairs empty, yet the 3 staff on roster took 30 minutes to get us our drink rounds (glass of rose' and jameison & dry)...and still got the order wrong twice. I've run bars before and I could have served every table thrice in that time. We managed two rounds of drinks only in our 90 minutes and declined a third because we did not want to wait another half hour. Quicker to go to anywhere else in the Quay and get faster service.
Now, let's talk food. The best thing about the experience is the menu on paper and ordering itself. Then disappointment kicks in, individual dishes begin drip feeding out of the kitchen in an ad-hoc fashion, our salad was forgotten and the tacos were cold and felt like they'd been heated up and allowed to cool again before making it out. Same thing with the cooked oyster varieties.
Not just our dishes, but others. Watching repeatedly the wrong dish for the wrong table, customers grumbling about delays (food and drink) and inaccuracies. In a way it allowed my partner and I to bond with our fellow diners in a way you wouldn't otherwise enjoy.
I could only imagine the chaos if it was actually a busy Friday afternoon with an expectant corporate crowd on their company credit cards and clients.
The cooked oyster options were mediocre. The fresh oyster options were very nice. Very nice. As one would expect.
Nailing the best of locations and the friendly ambiance is like having a Ferrari but never taking it out of second gear. What a tragic waste of potential!
Best to pack your patience and lower your expectations because this spot, despite its potential and friendly staff, is failing to deliver in the ways that matters.
Would not recommend if you're looking to impress — unless Gordon Ramsay himself swoops in and saves the day.
Get the drink service right, capability to match the friendliness, then nail the food service to match the location and price.
This place should and could be averaging 4 and a half stars on Google. For me, for...

I just wanted to leave a review after me and my friends went to this restaurant. First of all, we ordered a bottle of Chablis (the most expensive wine in the menu) and they brought us a bottle of a Petit Chablis which was not the one on the menu, didn’t open it in front of us and didn’t even made us try it. When we told them about it, they told us it was the same price (which couldn’t be as this wine was lower quality) so we just chose another one.
Secondly, we decided to order two plates of 6 oysters and two plates of 12. After my friend ate the third oyster, she found a centipede in the oyster. We all stoped eating at that point (except one of us who was really hungry and already finished her 6 oysters). We brought the centipede and the oyster to them and explained that it was unacceptable and that we wanted them to find a solution. The waiter offered us 12 more oysters that we obviously refused considering the lack of hygiene and health safety. So, he told us the manager would speak to us shortly. We waited almost half an hour to actually have the manager coming to the till asking us “so what’s wrong?”. After explaining the issue and that we would pay for the wine but not for the food considering almost everyone couldn’t finish but mostly considering there was a centipede in the oysters, the manager told us she couldn’t do that. She explained that actually finding a centipede in the oysters is “normal and it shows that the oysters are very fresh and that we obviously would know that if we knew more about oysters”. She became very condescendant and wouldn’t do more than taking out the 2 12 oysters plates saying the oysters are very expensive and because they are a business they couldn’t lose that much money (???) We still had to pay for the rest (the two 6 plates and the wine). She threatened to call the police if we didn’t accept this price. We paid because obviously we were tired of explaining that this couldn’t be a proper solution. I pass some details as my review is getting really long.
But, I would definitely not recommend this place. Also, one of us was actually sick the next day so the oysters were definitely not fresh.
I never had such a bad experience including customer service which was the worst ever. We were treated very poorly (probably also because we were 4 young girls…) and I would never go back there.
Thank you though for the waiter who didn’t know what to do regarding the situation but stayed really polite and...
Read moreI am not one to leave a bad review, but considering we paid $$$ and it was a birthday, I am very disappointed.
Staff - majority of the wait staff were nice, but just felt like they did not want to be there.
Environment - We were a big group but it was quite disappointing that we were placed alongside the decking where a lot of people kept going in and out, it was just overall weird placement? The lighting kept changing which was starting to give me a headache, then there was no aircon when it was pretty warm outside? did not make sense.
Food - before coming here I had not seen any reviews, so I was very open.
Oysters - considering i’m not an oyster eater, this was the only thing I actually enjoyed out of all the things we ordered.
Pasta of the day, three of us ordered it, one had too many clams, the other had a lot of sauce and one was pretty even. I don’t get how we got three different variations of the same pasta it felt like we were in a reenactment of the goldilocks and the three bears. blows my mind. The pasta i did get was the one with all the clams, the best way i could describe it was as if they put tomatoes with water and added the clams. The pasta itself was the ones you brought from woolies and didn’t cook it long enough. 1/10
Salt and Pepper squid, could you even call it that? rubbery and had burnt taste. I’ve had plenty from different restaurants and this by far was the worst.
Korean fried chicken burger, we ordered chips as entree and it was not at all salty, then when it came with the burger it was as if you were eating the ocean, that’s how salty it was. We had told the wait staff and all they said was “oh”. 👍🏼
Fish and chips - it was crispy, but the fish was ok.
The pork belly, it was alright, nothing amazing tbh.
the seafood platter, i liked the bread.
Drinks - idk how you can fail this, a simple lemon lime bitter. it’s literally syrup. it was as if they just put a drop and called it a day.
Really disappointed to say the least. the view and company made...
