I have been here a few times, and this experience has put me off quiet a bit!
This was my first time bring a large group to this restaurant to celebrate a couple of my friend’s birthdays and I have to say I am so disappointed and I don’t think I’ll be back again.
Here are my issues; We had pre plan with the restaurant that we had people we allergens and special dietary requirements. As you can see in the email image attached they were aware of this. Originally we had 10 people but then it was changed to 9, which meant we no longer needed LA CARTE preorder menu but no one addressed if this was still an issue with the dietary requirements. Even thought I sent our order request for just the 9 people but they advise this was no longer needed to do this. The server we had stated only a couple of things on the menu were Gluten free, they couldn’t even confirm that the potatoes were gluten free! So my friend who was the birthday girl, thought the main thing she could eat was cheese! The server said they would double check the gluten free items and they never came back. It was already hard enough to flag someone attention so we just did our best for the dietary requirements. As we were already frustrated. Food took 40-50minutes to come out. We asked for entrée to be served first, before the mains but everything came out at once. My friend was severed the wrong wine and people were under pour for their wines. The risotto was way too smokey and the flavours were way too over powering that some of my friends could not eat the dish and the dipping sauce for the potatoes was similar flavours. At the end of the dinner I provided feedback and all the girl did was apologized it did not feel genuine as they did nothing else but just said sorry.
This was disappointing not only the service bad but the consistency with the food was hit and missed. For the amount we spent was not worth it at all. The flexibility on the food, there was none! We were so put off that we decided not to have dessert there and went to another location to have dessert instead as we did not want to spend anymore money at this venue. As the bill came to $625!...
Read moreThere was five of us at our table. The atmosphere was good, music fantastic, lighting much too dim (but would be great for a romantic dinner), we had to use our phones to read the menu! Entree choices were very limited, everyone at our table ordered the arancini as there was little else to choose from that appealed - the Arancini was delicious. Main meal I ordered Veal Cotoletta, it was very nice came crumbed no sauce cold cabbage as a side $39 - very expensive for what it was. Others at our table ordered the Gnocchi - very small serving and quite salty, 2 ordered the prawn spaghetti, again a very small serving but the meal was fine - a bit oily, the last order was for the Veg Pumpkin dish and that went down really well. We ordered potato and salad sides, and thank goodness we did given the small portions. The service was a bit slow but the ladies looking after us were lovely, friendly yet professional. We could easily have had one or two more drinks but didn't get the opportunity to order. We were asked for a dessert order but by the time we were approached, we had lost our appetites. I see a lot of amazing reviews on this Bar and it was highly recommended to me, but sorry to say we won't be back, we found the lack of choice and the size of our meals very underwhelming and amazingly there was no steak choice for...
Read moreShadow has been a favourite of my hubby and I for years now, but our most recent experience with them really cemented their top-notch status with us. We love the atmosphere and buzz of the restaurant, but sometimes having Autism Spectrum Disorder means that I can get a little overwhelmed by everything around me, so I requested a table in a quieter part of the restaurant. I would have totally understood if they weren’t able to accommodate; we have no expectation from restaurants in this regard (especially in this challenging post-Covid climate) as we know they’re super busy and we love their food/vibe regardless. However, when we arrived we were greeted with the most thoughtful service, a very quiet table in the context of the venue, and were served by a waitperson with ASD also! I cannot express how much these gestures meant to both me and my husband, as I could relax more into the evening and my hubby had a more engaged dining companion haha. Thank you to the entire team at Shadow for your inclusivity. As always, thank you too for the INCREDIBLE food and wine. We’re always surprised and delighted by the menus when we visit! We will be back again,...
