For special occasions or bring your rich friends, the Rechabite almost has a modern take on a rustic Asian vibe. Now I dined at Double Rainbow, be sure to book, I previously went during fringe and got turned away. Understandable since there was a show at the venue. Now I brought a vegan friend and the amount of vegan options available are pretty good! I ordered myself the Salmon Tataki and you’ll appreciate this dish if you love sushi/sashimi/fresh raw fish. The triple cooked potatoes usually come with garlic duck fat (which honestly sound delicious but my doc says I need to lower my cholesterol, and remember, vegan friend) I think for the price I was expecting something a little more special but the spices on it gave it that lift it needed. I’ll be honest, I’m not usually a fan of Edamame (they kinda taste like bland farts) however they were wok tossed with unknown something which actually gave it a dimension of flavour so this wasn’t bad at all! The mocktail that has grape and lime? Hell yea, 10/10. The rice cakes were pretty steep at $26, I love how tender they are and they’re coated in black bean sauce and cooked with mushrooms. I liked it but it was a lil expensive for the smaller size. The bao surprised me $12 each and had a bit of salad and one breaded mushroom, the mushroom itself was good but I probably wouldn’t get this again. The dessert bento in my opinion was worth it. $25 for 4 desserts. I loved the blueberry cheesecake with boba, the chocolate tart was yummy and my friend loved the sorbet with coconut jelly. We were allowed to split our bill evenly and it ended up being $70 each. We were filled to the brim. Service was great, they held our dessert until we were ready. Overall a decent feed. I didn’t give it the full 5 as the Baos and rice cakes weren’t what I would consider value for money. But I’d likely come again.

Went to the Sinsuality Circus Fringe Festival show, we were on the top floor where you can only see anything by looking vertically downwards, they had oversold the tickets and there was a solid wall of people with no room to view. In an effort to see a fractional glimpse of the show I'd paid for, I stood on a stool. This upset security who, despite hearing my reasoning sent a cascading set of "heavies" to "deal with me", I explained I was very happy to get down if they could find me (and the 3 guests I'd bought tickets for) a place where we could see the show we'd paid to watch... At this point the security, who have only one mode of operation decided I was the problem, one overzealous twenty something security goon asked me if I wanted a fight outside before shoving me and trying to incite me to react. So as I was being escorted outside by the Goon Show (supposedly for the fight they'd suggested), the fact that my only gripe was to be able to see the show that I'd paid for found us a spot by the middle floor sound box where, while we were still one row back could see most of the show. Needless to say not a peep was heard from ourselves as, being in my mid 50's rarely go to shows and am on a different planet mindset wise to these bouncer goons who if they had the ability to accept that there may be some basis for a grievance and that the patron is not always wrong, a diplomatic solution can be found without incitement to fight in the carpark.. Just another Northbridge story I guess.. never again for me Fringe or the Rechabite when they treat patrons like this. Below is the picture of the stage view from where they expected me to sit...

Very cool venue with multiple levels but I wasn't that impressed with the dining experience. The table and chairs were very clunky to get in and out of and your food is served on metal plates which made it feel like a prison camp! There were lots of things to choose from on the menu but the stand outs were the curries, chicken wings and spring rolls. The value for money was very reasonable, we ordered about 12+ dishes to share between 10 and were stuffed by the end. The food component was about $40 a head + cocktails which were small but yummy. When eating, several drinks and plates came to the table that we turned away because they weren't ours and at the end discovered they had been billed to our table. The staff were very honest and understanding and removed it from the bill immediately which I thought was excellent customer service. I would return for a drink and bar snack but I wouldn't go for dinner with a big group of friends again as it was just a bit clunky.

I landed here to sample Perth club culture on my one night out here, Friday 13th September, a work trip from NSW. I could have chosen something else but I chose this place.

The venue is great, artistic and diverse. With ground floor quality dining, a basement club, first floor large club and an open rooftop venue.

I spent most of my time on the roof with the city skyline views as grassroots local DJs gave it the vibe. A great crowd of people, I met a few locals and bought some drinks for people spending around $120.

The drinks offerings were pretty good and encouraged me to stay. The staff for the most part were welcoming, genuinely friendly and prompt. I offered staff a smile, patience and the human dignity of being my host.

Unfortunately my experience was marred by very poor service from an inexperienced female bartender with dark hair who is obviously the weakest link in the business. This broke the good spell that was being maintained by so many other staff at Rechabite and Perth as an overall destination.

I was punished for being too slow to complete my order of two drinks... there were two bartenders on duty at that moment, there were only two guests including myself awaiting service. I had spent considerable money and time at this bar. What I was seeking was to ask the bartender a professional question about a product that Rechabite Rooftop Bar was selling from its fridge. I was chastised by having the first half of the order(a drink being bought for a friend), snatched from the bar and taken away. I was then made to stand patiently solo at the bar with two staff serving another which was ok, then offering no service.

The bartender was sour, not happy to be working and trying to teach the customers to be very quick, not personal or asking questions about the menu, can you imagine a request for a cocktail?

She did serve me in the end and I was able to ask about the product, a drink from my home suburb in Sydney. There was no apology or warmth.

Overall it was definitely disappointing enough for me to detail the review. I guess the contrast between the many positive aspects of Rechabite set the bar higher, when poor staff are allowed to prosper it hints at problems within the venue management that may keep surfacing and prevents 5 star recommendations.

As a customer my time and money are valuable. This was a unique night for me.

Three star venue overall. I will look forward to going back one day yet...

Went here on Sat night for my wife's birthday with friends. Nice venue however the staff need some training. We had booked a 7.30 show before dinner. Asked 3 separate staff specifically if we needed to make our way downstairs prior (if it was open prior?) to reserve our seats and get a drink. Was told to just go to the back stairs at 7.30 and they'll check us off and let us in. Got there 3 mins prior to 7.30 - told that we were "lucky" because they were locking the doors at 7.30 and that we better get down there and that the bar was also now CLOSED! FAIL. Made our way down, was waived away at the bar (even though we had some minutes left until the show started) and had to sit up the very back on high stools as all the seating was already taken. Not a great start. Had a dinner booking then at 8.30 when (the now alcohol free) 1 hr show finished. Was told our table wasn't ready and to wait at the bar... Not a big deal, waited 10 minutes and then was given a table right next to the busy doorway. Table was far too large for a group of 4 and very awkward to re-arrange the seating because of where we were located so essentially 2 people on the other side of the table could no be communicated with over the noise and loud music. Another FAIL. Seating was uncomfortable as they were cheap fold up chairs. One of our group has a seafood allergy which was met with eye rolling and condescending looks and attitude. The waitress actually said "you shouldn't have come here for dinner if you have an allergy". Unbelievable. She ordered the pork mince so she could eat something - without the fish sauce. My wife ordered the same thing and was told that it was easier for the chef to make one big batch as it would take too long to swap out the wok and wash off the fish sauce so my wife would also have to forgo the fish sauce with her meal. FAIL. Rest of the food came out and was ok but nothing special. Very salty and a lot of fried foods. Ordered more drinks at the table - mine came, my friends never did. Expensive night out and I get they are busy but if you can't handle the crowds then maybe don't try and turn as many covers. Staff need to know what happens in your venue to assist patrons to have a far better experience than we did. Overall - nice venue, expensive drinks, friendly but uninformed staff. I wouldn't...
