It is really sad that in 2025 I still have to experience episodes of racism, and unfortunately this time it happened right in the heart of the city, where you would expect it the least. After an evening out in Perth we decided to stop at The Globe for a final beer. Inside they were showing the Premier League. The person with me, who is Black, asked politely if it was possible to switch one of the screens to the Australia–South Africa rugby game that was about to start. The staff agreed and, with the enthusiasm of the small crowd present at around 11pm, the match was put on.
Soon more people gathered in front of the big central screens to watch the rugby, and we were sitting at one of only four tables at the time. Let me repeat: the game was on because the person with me had asked if they could show it. After a while security came to our table and told us to drink quickly because they were closing. At first I did not pay much attention to the fact they came only to us, but the person with me immediately noticed.
Over the next ten minutes security came back twice more, again only to our table, insisting we hurry up, while the other tables, where only white people were sitting, were left completely undisturbed. We were simply sitting quietly, drinking and watching the match. On the third time the person with me finally confronted them, pointing out that this was clear targeting and discriminatory. Only then did they stop bothering us.
We finished our drinks but left shortly after, disgusted by what had just happened. It had been a long time since I had personally witnessed such open racism, and it saddens me deeply to see it still...
Read moreIt’s very rare that you’d attend a dining experience and not have any constructive criticism, yet the only recommendation I can make is that The Globe Bar make their Prosecco Fountain Brunch a more permanent fixture. From the moment we entered the courtyard someone not even working the brunch sitting greeted us with a friendly smile and personally escorted us to the brunch room.
Rustic interiors that boast airy natural lighting is the perfect backdrop for the scrumptious menu and Peach Iced Tea welcome cocktail that awaits you. From the array of different menu items that our party ordered, not one disappointed. Being the Smashed Avo connoisseur that I am, I opted for the more modern take on this staple classic which involved dukkah crusted eggs - and will be as much to blame for my return as the prosecco fountain.
Once you’ve lined your stomach with gourmet deliciousness, it’s time to drink your weight in prosecco or spritz via the free flowing fountain. But, fear not if Mimosa’s and Bellini's are more your calling - the self serve station will be your place of worship for the remainder of your sitting.
All up the $49 price tag screams value! However it's the positive and personable staff who can’t seem to do enough to make your booking more enjoyable (if that’s even possible) that makes this experience such a must! For years our party has been frequenting The Globe for nightly drinks, but we’re thrilled we were able to experience the venue in a whole new light.
Congratulations to The Globe on such a great initiative (and well run event), more day-time events like this is just what...
Read moreI recently joined my sister and friend for a bottomless brunch at the Globe and it was such a fabulous afternoon, we couldn't rate it enough.
Our host Elysia was exceptional and deserves all the praise (and promotion at that) for her hospitality.
She had a huge smile on her face from the moment we walked into the busy room and although rushed off her feet, went above and beyond to make sure our two hour brunch experience exceeded expectations - and that it did.
It was clear Elysia took pride in her brunch functions, from the beautiful floral layout of the room and tables down to the spread on offer including the garnishes (a huge variety of cut fruits) and juice flavours etc to go with, we were overwhelmed with choice (in the best way possible).
The free flowing prosecco tap was a highlight, what a great idea for all the fizz fanatics + good photo opp with friends too!!
After much toss up between what to order for lunch (so many delicious mouth watering menu options to choose from) I committed to the chilli fried maple chicken waffles and was certainly not disappointed.
I've been to a few bottomless brunches in Perth now and this one was by far my favourite - I will certainly be back and will be...
