My family of 4 dined tonight on the Feed me menu and we were very disappointed in the selection of food we were served for $85pp ($340 in total), which when you compared it to the alacarte menu price, it would have only added up to $260! That's $80 we have already been robbed of before we even start.

We were given 1x grilled edamame ($14), 2x korean fried wings ($18ea=$36), 2x cauliflower kaarage ($21ea=$42), 2x steamed prawn dumplings ($13ea=$26) then mains of 1x miso pumpkin $28, 1x braised half duck $41, 1x cheong fun rice noodle $30 and 2x asian greens ($15ea=$30) with plain rice x2 ($7ea=$14). Total ordered separately would have been $260.

To top it off, we were served just 1x dessert plate to share between the 4 of us, which consisted of items almost impossible to share. I mean how do we share between 4 people a single scoop of ice cream on a plate and a mini size pannacotta without it all collapsing in a gooey messy heap?? When we enquired if just 1x plate was correct for the dessert considering everything else was 2x plates, we were promptly told yes, without the wait staff checking.

We were given 2x of everything else which was more than what we would have liked. I actually asked the waitress if we could just have 1x of each dish, as 1x had more than enough to share for 4 people (except for the dumplings) and requested to have more variety instead of double dishes.... and her response was to take the second dishes away and then bring them back out again 5 minutes later to say that it was correct, we had to have 2x dishes of everything!

The 3x cocktails we ordered were good and is what brought the bill to over $400 for our table of 4.

The selections were also the most basic items on the Karla menu and not a single item would have been a stand out or signature Karla dish. You should at least include more of your signature dishes and ensure that the value of the dishes served should be at least what we would pay for alacarte or even more. Very disappointing as we had family over from Sydney for just a few nights, who were looking forward to a great asian-fusion meal and this was a very disappointing experience for us especially as I had recommended this...

UPDATE: Came here for the bottomless yum cha menu, and while it’s not a traditional dim sum experience—no tea involved—the share plates each had their own delicious, creative twist. The wagyu dumplings, served in a little cast iron pan, were a standout, and the duck cigars offered a refined take on spring rolls with a crispy wrapper and a savoury soy dipping sauce. We finished with a flavour-packed tom yum fried rice, just as delicious as the courses that came before. The dishes arrived in two well-paced rounds of four, keeping the meal flowing smoothly. Our second visit to Karla was just as enjoyable as the first—this fusion restaurant impresses with its refined presentation, bold flavours, and a great selection of drinks.

At our recent team lunch, Karla delivered a culinary odyssey - a generous spread that stretched far beyond our expectations. Opting for the “Feed Me” menu, we found ourselves marvelling at the bounty. Just as we thought the mains had taken their bow, it turned out we were merely at the end of the entrees. The menu leans heavily on Asian influences, though every dish was infused with the unique touch that defines Karla’s culinary approach. The standout was undoubtedly the charcoal roasted miso pumpkin - a dish so luscious and balanced each visit to the bowl, a reminder of a tropical sunset. The service was as impeccable as the food, with the staff navigating our dietary requirements with confidence. Drinks were refilled with effortless charm, and the sheer volume of food ensured we left not just satisfied, but stocked for dinner later. Karla didn’t just deliver lunch; they orchestrated a dining experience that overflowed with generosity, flavour, and finesse. An encore is...

We went for the feed me option. We had a couple of cocktails as well, which were nice, but nothing exciting.

Wish I could remember the name of our waiteress as she was brilliant (I believe she was English) Anyway she was lovely and attentive. Couldn’t fault the service.

The food was slightly disappointing. Entrees were just a little bit underwhelming, loved the battered cauliflower though some pieces, were a little bit flowery. The prawn dumplings came out cold. And the Korean chicken wings were really tasty in flavour, but just seemed a bit of a basic cheap dish. Especially on a feed me, I really want to be wowed and that’s part of the excitement with not knowing what’s coming out, but I felt the entrees were just a little bit underwhelming and nothing exciting or special.

Funny enough, we loved our side dish the best of all, was a simple dish of greens, but super tasty flavour. And felt fresh.

Mains I felt really clashed, they were way too over powering in flavour, two curried dishes, one was the beef curry, and than we had sweet potato in a curry like sauce, which I felt didn’t complement each other, as they were overly rich in flavour. Actually left me feeling nauseous. I think it was too much going on.

I know feed me experiences can be hit and miss, and definitely subjective due to personal taste, but without being too bias, this was sadly a miss. I think I would try again but À la cart next time….

Though honourable mention, desert platter was great. And again...

Honestly, I expected more. It's such a beautiful building, a perfect spot. However, I was not impressed inside. Obviously, rental space is extremely high. Hence, the spacing of tables and chairs is ensured to be maximised. Therefore not unless you're in a big group, it would have been a great experience. But for two, it is a different story. The spacing is extremely tight. Thank goodness we are not in Covid Peak anymore. The tables are way too close. You could hear people's conversations. Waiters and people walking in main aisle space are bound to bump your chair due to super closeness. Definitely not the best place if you have mobility issues. We tried the Yum Cha, very disappointed as well. The cocktail towers are for people who can take alcohols only. But for people like me, allergic to alcohol, I opted to mocktails. They were OK. However, we had wanted to try the cocktail towers. It would have been better if this was also considered. The duck sprinroll and the Korean chicken wings were the only food items we liked. The rest weren't impressive. Certainly not a Yum Cha material. We should have tried the ala carte menu. The other dishes look nice to look at, but once you taste them, they are very ordinary. If you wanted Yum Cha, this is not the best place.
