My Friday night evening was ruined by terrible service at The Royal…. Having just enjoyed a wonderful show and dinner with friends we decided to drop in for a drink before we headed home. We arrived quietly and sat on the balcony chatting. I had previously enjoyed 2 glasses of wine elsewhere and when I approached the bar noticed a female bar staff member smirking at me ….I requested my drink … I saw her disappear and say something to the manager … he then came over to me and said “I’m sorry we cannot serve you because you are showing signs of intoxification”…. I was floored! I protested and said I’ve only had two drinks …. Extremely humiliated while other customers looked on, I then felt the need to explain that my walking may be a little strange given that I had a very sore back and hip…He then gave me my drink and said it was on him … well thank you… but how about in future you have a conversation with the person you are serving before making such an inaccurate assumption …. Train your staff on how to identify someone who is intoxicated… I was not abusive, not weaving around or holding on to the bar in order to stand up or slurring my words! Quite frankly your accusations were highly insulting! My friends and I were appalled and we will not be back. Surely you have a stepped process that staff can follow to identify intoxicated customers …merely making that call on how someone might be walking is not the way to do it. There are many reasons why someone may not be gliding across the room! Ever heard of injuries and disabilities? How about exercising some inclusivity, clearly your values are not...

I went to the royal hotel on the 4/9/2021 for a friends birthday lunch , the service to the table was but was disappointed around the experience with my food. I ordered the minute steak and I assumed the sherry vinegar was for the salad and not the steak. The steak was chewy and came in a pool of vinegar and butter sauce and the taste was so strong of vinegar and was quite frankly it was really foul with a side of slightly brown rocket and cold fries. I don't believe this was the chefs fault entirely just not a good recipe.

I asked one of the staff if this was correct and how it came soaked in a pool off vinegar and to which they said "can you not have vinegar" and I said no I like vinegar i just didn't expect the steak the steak to have a vinegar sauce and I do nor really like it to which the staff member just walked off.

I asked another staff member about it and if they could take my meal away after two bites as it was really foul and i did not like that is was soaked in vinegar.. again no solution was offered they just simply took my meal away. This was extremely disappointing as i have worked in hospitality and customer service for 10 years and as a supervisor, i would have offered a replacement or refund. Secondly I am not someone who can afford to eat out regularly and after this i could not afford to purchase a second meal so i had to go with out eating at my friends birthday lunch. I emailed the venue said they were investigating but never heard back. I ate some of my friends food it was ok but just felt like Dome quality food with fancier...

It was the worst meal my friends & me have ever had at a Perth pub. The setting is beautiful the staff lovely cant fault that. The food so awful. Ordered the share wagu steak. Not cheap. Came swimming in sauce, /whatever it was & no chips. No accompnicants except this awful warm salad. Said on menu salad. The salad was wamed up tomato swimming in sauce. No lettuce nothing else. No nothing. Steak & tomato No chips. Never will go back the worst food ever. One of our friends had chips didn't come with the sauce she ordered. What a drama to get a little tiny dish of sauce. Chips were not great. Very poor food. Very disappointed what pub where you in Rob Broadfield. Wonder how you do your reviews. You certainly didn't get what we got today totally awful. We do a cycle of Perth eateries every month. On our day off. This is by far the worst food & so expensive. I ask myself how this was scored high.? Never will I trust your reviews again. So expensive left us out of pocket with woeful food. Wouldn't eat this at home. I got a dirty glass had to tell bar man I wanted a clean glass. He was nice enough about it. But at the high prices not good enough . Staff though as I say we're lovely so we didn't complain. Appreciate as us being in the service industry how hard it is but no excuse for the awful food...
