We were a group of 8 adults and 3 kids, so a bit of a rowdy group. It was a birthday for one of the adults and the plan was to eat and go back to their place for cake and socializing. We had pre-booked and arrived at 6:00pm to a table set for us all with two big bench chairs against the wall and an additional table and chairs tacked on the end. The kids places were against the wall on either side of the table with a coloring sheet and crayons for them. This was a good idea however it didn’t last long. It was evening on a very hot day and the birds were filling the trees outside, squawking very loudly. We were seated inside which was away from the birds noise but closer to the crowd noise as it was a busy Tuesday night. The waiter took the order for the kids first at our request while we thought about our order. The kids meals were mostly free tonight providing we bought $20+ meals equivalent to the number of kids, which we did. The cost of meals seemed very pricy but there was a good selection of dishes and prices to choose from albeit more expensive than I’d normally expect. We waited and chatted until the kids got bored and agitated so we took them outside to run around. We waited some more and after about 40-45 minutes the kids little meals finally showed up. Veggies to share, 5 chicken nuggets and curly fries. There was also another dish we didn’t order arrive which we returned to them. These meals were soon consumed and the kids were getting bored again so we took them outside to run a second time. Somewhere in here we needed to clean up a mess of spilled juice which the waiters were helpful in providing wet cloths and napkins for. Our meals finally arrived about an hour or so after we ordered. The second plate was not our order. Another plate was incorrect, and a third appeared to be incorrect but upon checking with the kitchen it was found to be accurate with an ingredient hiding under something else. The waiters were helpful in correcting the problems and made sure we were satisfied. The meals were very nice when we did finally receive them and have them somewhat corrected. The kids also had desert of ice cream which kept them occupied a little longer but they were finished before us and were bored and driving us crazy for the rest of the meal. Toward the end of the night the noise was getting to be too much for some of us and we were all tired. It was a lot later than we had anticipated and the cake at the birthday boy’s house wasn’t a popular option, and the families with kids all went home. In summary I can’t say it was a great night but given the large group, the summer heat and the kids it wasn’t an easy task. If you’re a small group expecting to spend time there it’s great for the food if you don’t...
Read moreWe were greeted by a young female staff member who was friendly, helpful and had many laughs with us which we found very welcoming. And that was where the great service was left, after that it all fell apart. After ordering food for 6 of us, my son’s “macaroni cheese “ came out as some piss poor bowl of pasta with a sauce over it. Where’s the cheese? Where’s the macaroni and cheese?! Later to be told they had none after we’d complained. Ridiculous
My elderly mother who can not have cabbage asked if there was any in the salad. She was told no. It came out with 2 types of cabbage in it!
We ordered a second round of the 2 different drinks we first ordered corona and a wine(large). What we got was 2 totally different drinks including a small size wine. We thought ok so agreed to take them then much later on the correct 2 drinks came out! We sent them back. We also asked for apple juice for the kids. We got cranberry juice that they didn’t like or drink! Then after watching half a dozen or so staff standing behind the desk yapping, we had to go up and ask for the kids ice creams! So after we went up and confronted them over the service etc, we went back up and paid the bill, of which one meal was discounted. Not good enough. After returning to the table while the kids were still eating their desert, we got another glass of wine brought over that we never ordered or paid for! It was sent back but not without a daft look on her face as to why we didn’t want it. Like it was our fault. This was also the same waitress who messed up the last drink order. After being a “frequent diner” member for many years, it’s no wonder you got rid of the program after Covid, when all local sites here went to crap, as who the hell would frequently eat there again.
I will also point out that this is not an isolated incident. We were at the same restaurant a bit before Xmas 2024 and had the SAME service, terrible steak and chewy lobster! Not what is expected of a $60 meal, anywhere! Where has “hogspitality” gone? We’ve got our own answers to that. Extremely disappointed. Might be time the owners showed up, got off their backsides and off their yachts etc and put some effort into their business and training of those in it.
That was the last time we eat there.

Read moreWalked in, didnt have a booking and was a busy Saturday night which is expected, nothing wrong with that. Except we were seated by Margaret who looked like a manager, was rude and dumped our menus on the table and sped away. We weren’t served by anyone for half an hour even though there were the female staff walking around just wiping tables to look busy. We were sat near the bar which there was a guy at the bar making everyone’s drinks that were ordered. He notices that we haven’t been served and makes acknowledgement that he will be over to serve us. Just before he is able to walk over Margaret walks over and yells at him to get out the bar and be useful and hand out the drinks to the tables and serve us (meanwhile there are multiple girls free just wiping tables and not really all that busy who were never once told to do ANYTHING) he comes and takes our order and takes drinks to table then she comes back and yells at him about a drink being made wrong that he didn’t make as he was taking drinks to the table and another girl made one drink. (waited half an hour in between courses but that’s expected when it’s so busy) the whole time Margaret was picking little things to yell at this guy about, you could tell he was getting upset. After being there for two hours we decided to go home without the desert we payed for because we could stand having to wait and listen to this lady yell at this poor guy. We go to pay and she walks over not even saying a word to acknowledge us just prints out the bill while yelling at this guy and got annoyed at us when we wanted to pay separately. As we are paying she continues to yell at the guy to wipe the counter top that he had already done and patronisingly says to him I’ll show you how to wipe a damn bench boy it’s not hard We walked out with no thank you or any words said to us... very disappointed. Great place except the managers attitude making it an uncomfortable place to work and awkward to eat at, also saw a cockroach walk into the kitchen at the end before leaving. Go to other Hogs Breath Cafe oftern and have always had AMAZING service and experience.. just bad management or a bad night...
