OMG this café is SO GOOD I wanted to live there forever!! It’s called The Antique Cherry Café which already sounds fancy and cute like a little tea party in a flower garden, and the FOOD… the food made my taste buds do a happy dance and high-five each other. I swear I ate like a king and I’m not even sorry 😎
Okay first of all, the menu is MASSIVE. Like there are soooo many delicious things it took me 20 minutes to choose because I wanted everything. It’s like a magical menu of brunch dreams.
I ended up getting the Big Brekkie because I was really hungry and it had everything: eggs, bacon, grilled mushroom (so juicy), chorizo (spicy and tasty), tomato (not boring tomato, this one was grilled and smoky), hash brown (crunchy gold nugget), and sourdough toast (crispy and chewy and perfect for soaking up egg yolk). I felt like a brunch superhero when it came to my table.
My sister got the Açaí Bowl and it looked like a unicorn smoothie in a bowl. So colorful with fruits and granola and swirls and she was like “mmm” the whole time and didn’t even share with me. Rude. But I stole one spoonful and it was fruity and icy and awesome.
Mum got the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and WHOA that hollandaise sauce was like sunshine butter — smooth and lemony and warm. She was literally smiling while chewing so that means 10/10.
The best part? The Chilli King Prawn Pasta. My cousin got it and it was SPICY and JUICY and full of prawns that tasted super fresh like they just jumped out of the sea. The sauce was tomatoey and garlicky and cheesy all at once, and he slurped it up so fast I was like "bro chew first." He didn’t care. Respect.
The café itself is really cute and chill. It's called "Antique Cherry" but it doesn’t feel old or dusty, it feels like vintage-cool. Like the chairs and lights and vibe are all soft and cozy, like you could write a poem there or just eat 3 plates of food. Your choice. The music was nice and not too loud, and the people working there were SO NICE. They smiled and helped us choose and were super patient even though we asked like 17 questions.
The drinks were great too! We got iced coffees and they were strong and sweet and had that good good coffee smell. I almost felt like an adult drinking it. But then I ordered another hash brown and felt like a happy kid again 😄
We didn’t try the burgers this time but I saw someone at the next table with the Cheesy Waterfall Burger and it looked INSANE. Like cheese everywhere, dripping down like a river. I was staring too long I think because the person eating it smiled at me awkwardly lol. Next time I’m getting that for sure.
Also they have TONS of extras so you can build your own mega plate like a brunch boss. Want extra bacon? Boom $4. Avocado? Boom $3.5. Hash brown army? You can make it happen.
Anyway, overall this café is 100000/10. Food amazing, staff super friendly, place cute, and I left full and happy and wanting to come back next weekend. If you're hungry and love breakfast food that tastes like hugs and magic, GO TO ANTIQUE CHERRY CAFE!! Order the Big Brekkie, steal some of someone else's açaí bowl (just kidding unless you’re fast), and thank me...
Read moreI have eaten several times, last time waited way too long for meals to the table but they eventually come staggered with half our table served and eating whilst the other waits. Coffees still nowhere to be seen. I watch people who came after us enjoy their meals whilst we wait. The coffee queues favour the takeaway orders first with diners being last. Well over an hour to receive meals and coffee and this is not the first time this has happened dining here. Meals are mediocre at best but it’s close and easy to where we live so I have suffered the mediocrity but for us this is the last time we put up with this establishment. Last time I was here I asked for the Bacon & Fried Egg roll but enquired if the egg could be scrambled, the girl told me no! I accepted that due to being a busy weekend but it was the first time I have ever heard this answer from any cafe anywhere in the world I have been to. Today is a quiet weekday, my partner chose to come down here for convenience and again I thought I would not need a big breakfast and wanted the simple Bacon & Fried Egg roll option but seeing as my partner was having poached egg Vegie Breakfast I asked if I could have poached egg on my roll as I don’t eat fried eggs. The girl asked the cranky cook and I heard his belligerent reply of firm NO! How mate, how is it so hard to put a poached, boiled or even raw egg on a roll instead of a fried one? Your still cooking an egg! So with his reply the girl got mine, cancel the entire the order. We then left and vowed to never return. I hope your happy the money you cost your business Mr Cranky Cook over a simple egg. They did us a favour, we had a lovely breakfast by the water’s edge at Cabarita in the...
Read more(Edit) I went to antique cherry to try the food on the 16th oct 2022. Food was small and average. I had a shrimp on the barbie burger (16.80) with chips (3.5). 20 dollars for a burger and child serving size chips.
You order at the counter and find your own table. You also have to grab your own water. This is what I’d expect to do at a local bistro or bar. This is normal for some cafes, but warrants a lower rating.
Go to this cafe if you would like a bite of something palatable at a premium. But with all the competitive cafes close by I don’t warrant a reason to return. My rating stays the same.
———- (Original review) I’d like to let everyone know that the other reviews I’ve seen on this place are from reviews They have only reviewed one other place or just have less than 20 to 30 reviews. It would be better to trust reviews from local guides with higher stars.
Turned up to the location too try Out based on recommendation. The staff there were busy and we said we were happy to wait if we could put our name or number down. One staff member said to just grab any seat we could find.
I had a look around and saw out of the approximate 12 tables, about 7 tables were still waiting on the food. It was obvious that even if we were to get a table that would be a long wait for food.
There was a table in the cafe that was only meant for one person and although we asked if we could put an extra chair there they were not willing to. It was also strange that they would not offer to have the table set outside with an extra chair so that we could sit outside.
This review is based not on the food that they served But on the service we got. And the service is...
