Since Cafe Giulia is so nasty about having dogs in their cafe I think I should warn everyone who has a furkid. There is no table service in this cafe and the only way you can order is at the cashier at the front. Menu is on a board behind the cashier so the way to go is to order, then walk to the back where dogs were suppossedly allowed, and wait for your food/ drinks. Note that menu is extensive and you might need a min or two before you could make up your mind on your order. Less than 30 seconds since I stepped foot into the cafe, an older and stout gentlement wearing an apron walked up to me. He clapped his hands, and went "Out. no dogs allowed." Word for word. I was stunned for a second, and explained I will order my food then move to the back. He's like "Nope. No dogs allowed at the front. Out." So I asked "how else can I order my food?" He ignored me. So I said to him "You are not very friendly arent you?" He totally disregarded me and walked away.
There are so many ways to put a message across but cafe giulia has chosen to treat their customer like this. He could have a) Told me dogs are not allowed at the front. Move to the back and someone will take my order given this special situation. b) Allowed me to order and quickly move my dog to the back.
He has showed no remorse in his action when I told him he's not being nice to me. Just Wow. I have been patronising Cafe Giulia for 8 years. And you just lost a customer forever. ps: I own a tiny maltese...
Read moreGreat little cafe. Cafe Giulia is a bit of far walk from UTS Tower. However, I think it was definitely worth it. Giulia had a wide range of menu, ranging from breakfast to lunch and variety of drinks. I ordered the Giulia Burger. This is a massive burger with juicy patty. The burger was accompanied by large serving of potato chips. The chips had pieces of skin on them, I think they are real potatoes! Garnished with a sprig of rosemary, it was so overpowering. My friend ordered the Spaghetti. Also a massive serving, we had difficulties finishing it together... The pricing is a little over $16, but I think they deserved it. Overall they were both wonderful meals. The ambiance is very nice, very much like a local cafe with a warm feeling. Giulia's atmosphere was very unique, they had an open kitchen, the capable staff was moving up and down the hall. The best bit at the end, was to watch the chefs stick their hands into the overhead toaster. We went during peak hour, the customers were overflowing with many guests taking takeaway. They had an outdoor area, however, it was fully occupied. I suggest to get in early for the outdoor area. In summary, I would come again to try...
Read moreBought soy flat, and a brekky special to eat in. Took ages for a service person to come and tell me there was a mix up and thought it was to go, I said no probs man just bring it out... They did. How ever the elderly lady that is always behind the counter came out with an angry and dissapointed face and slammed the plate on the table I was sitting at and with a harsh voice "is that all you wanted" and gave me the filthiest look!
Now this is not my first time here and I never made anytning an issue as I know how hard the food and service industry is.
I tip everytime I eat anywhere and at this place also no matter what the service is like.
But not anymore! The hell is wrong with this woman?! Everytime i get anything from her with the worst attitude as if she wants me dead or something.
Such a horrible and negative vibe!
I left the food and coffee untouched and didn't ask for my money as it was the waiters and chefs work that deserves it all and not this hideous person at the counter possibly the owner or what ever!
Even the waiter was apologetic while I was leaving and was saying "I understand" means there is some ongoing issue there?!
Attitude...
