Restaurant is A little small. Staff that come around with the carts don’t seem to care about the customers and do their job half heartedly. A lot of waitresses serving dishes on carry trays - about 50% of the time food was Presented to us it was on a Carry tray. By carry tray I mean those circular ones you see in the movies where waiters carry drinks, or deliver dishes to tables. Many times there was only one plate of food on the tray, usually gai lan (Chinese vegetable). Several waitresses with the same Gai lan dish roamed around the place, and we got presented Gai lan 3 times by different waitresses before we finally just gave in and took it. Even then, more waitresses came to us offering the dish.... We also got some pan friend dumplings, however before we even confirmed to take the dish, as we were asking for what was inside, the lady stamped our card while we were asking the question and put the dish down on our table. After stamping, then she told us what was inside the dumplings. The dumplings were very very oily and some were already broken. They were presented sloppily and unevenly without care on the plate. Generally the staff seemed liked they didn’t really care about their job. One cart lady when she took off the lids off the bamboo containers to show us what was inside did so sort of grudgingly, somewhat slamming the lids on top of each other as if she didn’t care. Other Staff did not stand upright as if they were proud of where they worked. Food is very very mediocre. The whole place seems cold and unfriendly. Didn’t make the customers feel valued. I have been to yumcha where the staff chat happily to customers even if they meet for the first time. Don’t get me wrong though, there was one friendly lady that was there. They’re not all cold shoulders. Also, yum cha is a Cantonese activity originating from Guangdong and everyone was speaking primarily mandarin, before they spoke Cantonese. They should speak Cantonese first... Come here if you want but I’m sure there are more welcoming and comfortable places to eat yum cha...
Read moreGreat place for hairy chicken, overcooked steamed oysters and small thorny pieces of lobster shells in your noodles. If you’re after cheap food this is the place, but not for quality. A sign of post Covid troubled business where they’re always short staffed, take short cuts, and don’t really care about feedback.
We came for dinner, after waiting for an half hour of no one serving our order, we had to order from the cashier ourselves. We ordered the cash only set menu @$168 and received yellow chicken with lots of hair on them, steamed Oysters that are over cooked and hard, and lobsters which had noodles with small shard pieces of shell mixed in it. We tried to eat around it, but it was impossible to eat the noodles, as they cut into your mouth. We provided feedback and the waiters and waitresses said sorry and quickly ran away without interest.
We had similar quality and service experience for yum cha in previous other occasions , and our last dinner at Fortune Place takes the cake. We gave them too many chances and won’t be going back. I’m concerned about the care that they put in the food they provide, let alone the food they prepare and cared for. Disgruntled chefs and staff with owners who don’t care?… You...
Read moreBy far the WORST experience I have ever had in my life. I rarely leave bad feedback and just never go back but this was so bad I decided I had to say something.
When we sat down they put a teapot and 2 sauces on the table and walked off. We never asked for this and we were not told that would be $6.
They also charged us a $3.00 “ Cover Charge” per person. Then also had higher prices for each dish on the PH.
There was one lady doing the “ Yum Cha” and we sat for 20 minutes before it even came near us. I could see the trolley at the back of the restaurant. It was not replenished and she pushed it over to us. Everything looked dry and old. She then came over with some dumplings and we felt we would just try the dum sum. It was cold and old. We watched that one woman and the trolley. Over an hour the same things stayed on it and she occasionally walked around.
We decided to just get some stir fry veg and boiled rice for safety. They bring a bowl of rice that was so hot and the bowl blisteringly hot as it’s clear it was microwaved. Can’t even get steamed rice right!!
To add insult to injury my child found a long black hair in the rice.
The best part of this meal was the can...
