A hidden gem!! I was desperate for mid-priced variety when takeout was my main diet during a sad period of fulltime study+work... Never thought twice about the whole dingy looking Mandarin centre, but just gotta expand your boundaries ya know. Anyhow I love a well-made stirfry noodle so the Beehoon Goreng, which was the first thing I tried, has become the holy grail of their menu for me. It used to be only $12.9 but yes prices have gone up. It has good char and flavour, the strands are not clumped or sloppy - basically a hallmark of a very good stir fry! Most HK cafes cant do a good vermicelli stir fry, flavourless and no char - you're looking at $25+ price point places to get something done as nicely or flying to see some proper SE street stalls... Their ribs are great but quite expensive for the quantity. The only thing is their window of opening hours is quite limited so no dinners.... The service is prompt and terse but not to be mistaken for obnoxiousness for those easily offended but cant discern brusque with haugty...
Read moreI ordered Mixed Fried Rice and Chicken Satay at the counter and was charged $33.50, with $15.50 for the satay and $17.50 for the Mixed Fried Rice. However, I was served Chicken Fried Rice instead of Mixed Fried Rice.
When I raised the issue, they claimed I had ordered Chicken Fried Rice but did not provide the receipt to confirm this. They eventually corrected the order and served the Mixed Fried Rice. Upon reviewing the charges, I realized that if they had recorded Chicken Fried Rice on the order, the total should have been approximately $32, not $33.50 (as Mixed Fried Rice is $1 more expensive than Chicken Fried Rice).
While I finally received the Mixed Fried Rice, it was underwhelming, with only six slices of meatballs and five slices of sausage, as shown in the picture. Overall, it was a...
Read moreTotal of 48mins wait for 1 bakmi ayam pangsit.
I had higher expectations for this place, especially with its 4.7 rating on Google, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. I ordered a bakmi ayam pangsit and waited patiently for 35 minutes, only to realise that a group of four, who ordered 10 minutes after me, got their food first.
When I asked about my order, the staff responded with, “Oh, okay, we’ll make it now,” as if they didn’t want to admit they had forgotten it. By the time my dish was finally ready—48 minutes after I ordered—I had already lost my appetite. The meal itself was okay, but it probably would have tasted better if I had received it while I was still hungry.
For a simple noodle dish, this wait was unacceptable, and the lack of care for customers’ time...
