Arrived in Sydney from Singapore on 6th Aug, and we met up with our friend’s son (who is studying in Sydney). We decided on Chinese cuisine, as I was sure he’d had plenty of Western food already, and chose Fortune Village after hearing great reviews. We arrived at 6:30 pm and were warmly welcomed by the restaurant manager, Mandy. She informed me that my reservation was actually for 7:30 pm, but nevertheless, she kindly managed to find us a table. Mandy also recommended several dishes from their menu, and I took all her suggestions — every one of them was excellent. As we were celebrating my friend’s son’s birthday, I mentioned that it’s not easy to find a bakery with cakes in Sydney. Mandy promised to surprise him with something special. At the end of the dinner, Mandy, along with staff member Amy and Simon, the owner, brought out a deep-fried ice cream with a sparkling candle, singing the birthday song. The surprise delighted him, and we were deeply grateful for their thoughtful arrangement. I must compliment the following team members at Fortune Village: • Mandy – Professional, knowledgeable, creative, efficient, and always willing to go the extra mile for customers. • Amy – Exceptionally attentive, ensuring all our dining needs were met with care. • Simon – Humble, approachable, and actively seeking customer feedback. • The Chefs – For preparing such a sumptuous and memorable meal. Thanks to them, our dining experience at Fortune Village was excellent, pleasant, and truly memorable. Highly recommended to anyone looking for great food and outstanding service in Sydney.

Solid four star restaurant. Excellent customer service, our waitress was helpful, lovely and very informative on the dishes. She answered all our questions quickly and efficiently. My family and I ordered, satay chicken, garlic chicken with vegetables, Mongolian beef and beef in black bean. We started with san chow bow and spring rolls. The satay chicken, Mongolian beef and the spring rolls, were quite delicious. The satay was peanuty with a little hint of spice. The Mongolian beef was the hit of the table, it was very flavoursome, spicy, smokey and quite tender. The spring rolls were crispy, had a hint of ginger and the filling was quite hot, tasty and beautifully paired with the sweet and sour sauce. The garlic vegetables with chicken was okay, it wasn't as garlicky as I hoped. It had a small hint of garlic. The beef in black bean sauce was a disappointment. Personally, I wouldn't order this again. It did arrive to our table quite hot and steamy but lacked any depth in flavour. The same could be said about the san chow bow, for $8.90 each they were quite minuscule in size and to be honest underwhelming. Would I come here again? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes. Overall the service was lovely and accommodating, the majority of the food was good albeit a little on the pricey side for the quantity you get. But I suppose it's because of the location.

2023 update: Still incredible. Eat here. Highly recommended. Spoiled me for other Chinese food restaurants. BEST CHINESE EVER. Absolutely incredible food—thoughtful presentation, attention to detail, flavors, and lovely staff. Hot and sour soup was actually hot and sour. Vegetable spring rolls were filled with delicious mushrooms. The soup dumplings were on point. The honey chicken, while perhaps not the most sophisticated dish, was the star of the show, perfectly fried—light and crunchy—-and made with very high quality chicken. (I’d eat three plates a day if I could.) We had no rubbery bits at all. None. The mixed vegetables and tofu was delicate and lovely. The vegetables were lovingly presented, the tofu fried by angels in heaven. My children were a little wild while we were there and there were no other children except for one in the lower room, but the staff was very sweet and understanding about small children in a sit-down dining experience. They didn’t seem fazed or annoyed in the least and were patient and kind.

I found the Fortune Village Chinese Restaurant dining experience to be nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by friendly staff who led us to our seats promptly. I had previously learnt about this restaurant from business associates who were regulars as it provided a convenient location for business lunches, a useful respite against the bustle and traffic of the Sydney CBD.

The restaurant’s ambiance strikes a fine balance between traditional Chinese aesthetics and contemporary comfort, creating a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere - perfect for the business meeting which we were there for.

I found Fortune Village's repertoire of Australian-inspired Chinese cuisine to be extensive. We had a delightful mix of shared dishes: Honey King Prawns, Salt & Pepper Calamari, Shan Tung Chicken, Shredded Beef in Peking Sauce, Beef with Vegetables etc - most of these dishes were house specialities. My personal favourite, the Shredded Beef in Peking Sauce would be on my list on my subsequent visit!

Despite its bustling atmosphere, our maitre d' remained attentive and knowledgeable. His considered approached and recommendations were spot-on, enhancing our dining experience without a hint of rush.

The presentation of each dish was impeccable, representative of high-quality Chinese cuisine. The chefs clearly took immense pride in their craft.

I found Fortune Village's offering of its delectable food, superb service, and a charming ambiance compelling for those of us wishing to have an unrushed, civilised business lunch in the Sydney CBD.

I look forward to my next visit with great...

Hi Unfortunately didn't have a good experience with dining at Fortune Village last night. I have been to Fortune Village before and no issues but this was approximately 4 years ago when I last attended. Maybe was an "off" night for the chef but didn't feel we got value for money with the food that was ordered. There was 7 people and we ordered 1 entree and 6 dishes with steam rice and fried rice. The food quality wasn't to expectations with the dishes not to standard we expected before. The salt and pepper squid had lots of batter and we thought it was salt and pepper squid and prawns but only squid was in the dish and basically said batter dish not.much seasoning. But the disappointment was the portion sizes of a the dishes and really didn't cater for the amount of people we had let alone the prices of the dishes thinking the quality would be there. The other dishes we ordered was pork chops , Szechuan Beef ,prawns and snow peas ( ordered with xo sauce but there was no xo sauce for the night - one would have thought you make it on the spot and from scratch ) Lemon chicken and Mongolian Lamb

I am sorry I am trying to be constructive with my comments but felt let down especially being my birthday and chose this restaurant so felt embarrassed for my guests. We all walked out not feeling satisfied.

I went by the comments on the reviews and everyone gave a glowing reference so as I say it have been a one off night.

Anyway these are my constructive comments and hope that next time it maybe a better...
