I feel compelled to share our deeply disappointing experience at this restaurant, in the hope that others may be spared a similarly frustrating and upsetting ordeal. What was meant to be a beautiful anniversary celebration turned into an evening we’d rather forget.
We arrived promptly at 6:30 PM for our reservation, booked a month in advance, only to be told our table had been given away. We were not seated until 7:10 PM and were initially asked to sit outside on a noisy main road, despite having called ahead specifically to confirm indoor seating.
As soon as we were seated, staff spilled water on our table. In an apparent attempt to win us over after the delay, they brought out garlic bread without asking, completely disregarding the fact that my partner has a bread allergy, something we had noted in advance. This careless gesture could have resulted in a serious health issue.
To make matters worse, my partner was seated in the middle of a busy walkway and was constantly bumped by both patrons and staff. It was so disruptive that we had to rearrange our own seating just to find some level of comfort.
Throughout the evening, we were harassed by staff trying to push us to order more food because the meals we had already ordered were delayed. This pressure was unprofessional and only added to an already stressful situation.
When our food finally arrived, both steaks were significantly overcooked and completely different from what we had ordered. The ribs were dry and drowned in a cheap, sugary sauce that lacked any depth of flavor. For the price we paid, the portion sizes were shockingly small and did not reflect the value advertised.
To make matters worse, a service charge was added to our bill without any prior notice or mention during the booking process.
Perhaps the most appalling part of the evening was that the toilets were overflowing and unusable. Guests had no access to basic facilities, which is not only unacceptable but unsanitary and deeply concerning from a health and safety standpoint.
This experience utterly ruined our anniversary. We had originally planned to use this restaurant for future gatherings, but that will absolutely not be happening now. The quality of the food was poor, the service was disorganized and dismissive, and the overall atmosphere was far from enjoyable.
Frankly, you can see why so many restaurants are closing down if this is the standard they’re operating at. The online reviews that led us here were misleading at best.
We do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It failed in every possible way—from food and service to basic hospitality...

Food: I ordered as on the Menu: BASTED in HURRICANE’S original rib sauce then grilled until tender. Served with chips. (1 kg $60.00 + Lemon Lime Bitters $4.95.)
Quality: The quality was not up to the HURRICANES standard as I expected. This dish should have put me into a food coma. The ribs had a lot of taste but no kick! What I mean by 'kick' is that I would normally get to the last rack and contemplate whether I should keep going. In this case, a 500-gram Ribeye would have done the job. As for the fries, nothing special.
Service: We had a 7:00 pm booking and were seated around 7:30 pm. The order was taken shortly after, but the food was served 2 hours later. Everyone was polite, so no personal grudge towards the staff, but the Host holds the fort and nothing was done right to prevent the ship from sinking.
Atmosphere: Friends make the atmosphere, but in our case, the vibe was frustration and tension throughout the restaurant due to the delay in food. If the food is served correctly, the atmosphere would improve significantly."
What I expected - These things happen!! but where was the backup plan?? If the computers are down, the host should notify all patrons and advise them in advance. YES! People would get up and leave, but you could avoid this with free drinks and bread??
Would I go back to Pyrmont Hurricanes? NO Would I go back to the Franchise? YES Where? Surfers Paradise Why? Because I get what I expect every time!
Note: I don't make time for images when I'm not satisfied." Lastly!! How do you eat beef without a...
Read moreMy recent visit was a somewhat unremarkable experience. While the food itself was satisfactory and met expectations, the overall service left something to be desired in terms of attentiveness to customer comfort. Upon arrival, just a few minutes before our 6:30 PM booking (for four people), we were shown to our allocated table. However we quickly realised that the air conditioning was blowing directly onto our table, making it quite uncomfortable especially for my mom who is 71 years old. We inquired about moving to a nearby empty table (also a table for four), hoping to avoid the direct draft. Despite the clear availability and our reason for wanting to move, our request was politely declined by the waiter. I understand that the other table might also have been booked, but this lack of accommodation was still somewhat disappointing. Having finished our meal and paid the bill – including a tip for the service we had received – just past 7:00 PM, we were quite surprised when the waiter politely asked us if we could vacate the table. I have to emphasis that the waitor was polite. However considering our original booking was for 6:30 PM, and we had only been seated for no more than 40 minutes in total, this request felt abrupt and unwelcoming, especially after we had already shown our appreciation through a gratuity (somewhat regret in retrospective). Overall, it does offer a standard dining experience with food that meets expectations. However, the unwillingness to accommodate a simple seating request for comfort and the subsequent pressure to leave shortly after paying, even with a tip, significantly detracted from...
