Oct, 2024 We kicked off our weekend in the best way possible by returning to JooMak for dinner on Friday night after work. This cozy spot has become one of our favorites, filled with fond memories of delicious comfort food, warm and friendly staff, and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere that always puts us at ease.
For our meal this time, just the two of us, we went with:
• Make-it-yourself rice balls – an absolute must for me! I always have so much fun mixing the seaweed, seasoning, and sushi rice, then shaping them into little rice balls. It's one of those simple joys that adds a playful touch to the meal.
• Stir-fried Bulgogi set meal – and let me tell you, it was just as good as I remembered, if not better. The flavors were rich and comforting, the perfect dish to sink into after a long week.
• Giant Pork Cutlet – their new addition to the menu for October. Our waiter, as friendly and helpful as ever, recommended this one, and we couldn’t resist giving it a try. The pork cutlet was huge—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with a special sauce, crunchy French fries, a fresh salad with mayonnaise, and tangy pickled radish. Every bite was delicious, and we loved how the pork paired so well with the side dishes (banchan). There were just so many different ways to enjoy it!
All the dishes were absolutely delicious, each bringing its own sense of comfort. The pork cutlet was a standout—gigantic and mouthwatering before we even took a bite, with perfectly seasoned fries and a sauce that tied everything together. It’s the kind of meal that just makes you feel good.
We couldn’t finish all the food, so we took the leftovers (the Bulgogi and the pork cutlet) home, and guess what? They were still absolutely delicious the next day! It’s always a win when your meal tastes just as good on round two.
I’m already looking forward to our next visit—it’s always a pleasure coming back for another comforting meal at JooMak! 😊
August, 2024 I had dinner here with my friend and her family of four, and I enjoyed the food so much that I came back a month later with another friend.
We loved the cozy ambiance, the friendly service, and, most importantly, the delicious food. I tried their fried chicken, stir-fried bulgogi, make-it-yourself rice balls, tteokbokki, and pork backbone soup.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed everything I had, and the refillable banchan were super tasty too. This is a perfect spot for a relaxing dinner after work, catching up with colleagues or friends over drinks and delightful food.
I recommend making a reservation since the restaurant tends...
Read moreSuch a shame... This restaurant used to be a fantastic establishment. The food reminded me of my memories back at home in Busan south Korea, combined with the soothing, mellow atmosphere that just separates itself from all the other basic Korean restaurants in Sydney. The food in this restaurant is great, but god, MY GOD, The male staff are absolutely terrible! The owner is fantastic, she is very nice and outgoing, made me feel like her son HAHAH but unfortunately her employees are not the same. The female staff are fantastic but gosh, The male staff of this restaurant are rude, inappropriate and just not fit to work in the food and beverage industry. Im guessing that the staff were hired based on the fact that they may be related or somehow affiliated with the owner through an outside connection. All the male staff in this place are abit strange and give off weird vibes, almost as if they don't like seeing me be there? I've visited many times to the point where my face is known to the staff, but i definitely won't be visiting again anymore.. To the owner of the restaurant, The majority of the male staff members should be replaced If you want to bring back the shine and comforting allure to this restaurant like...
Read moreThis restaurant seemed to have a passion of K-food that can definitely help make patrons enjoy emo evenings with drinks and chatters.
Food was decent and delicious. Drinks were well chilled and promptly provided without any delay.
Nevertheless, there were a few downside of visiting this restaurant herewith; your order could be delayed when people started to get in the longer queue Beverages were slightly expensive than other restaurants. Thus, it is expected that a price of alcohol coups be reasonable and reorder-able in this style of typical “Joomak” - this means K-style pub with food. This should be due to the location(?).. Quantity of food was a bit smaller than expected, while quality was not bad. Fried chicken was awesome, but small in quantity and factory version of friend french fries were provided. Meanwhile, a large pork bone soup was pretty salty. I requested some soup to make it milder in the beginning but they asked me to pay for it. I used a two cups of water in the end - which is free - to add a noodle.
Overall, it was a fun dinner and had a great evening.
Recommended, but choice...
