Casual Bliss - Chef and cook deserve a Michelin star for taste! My husband I went to Ink & Drink. We had drinks from Mountain Culture bar pre our ink & drink session and dinner afterwards. Relaxed, warm, casual atmosphere with matching service. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. Brewery beers and Berry cocktail slushy were top quality. However, it was our dinner that really stolen the show. *Sorbet - refreshing mango sorbet, perfectly balanced flavour. Came with a biscuit pairing. *Sweet potato wedges (Kumara for Kiwis, Camote for Spanish, Yam for Americans, Batata for Haitians) - these were Glazed with honey and had a very thin dipping sauce. Never have Sweet potatoes tasted soo good. *Chicken wings - my husband devoured these. I cannot comment as did not try. Steak sandwich - this literally took me to ✨️culinary heaven✨️ with each bite. 👌👌👌 Steak was perfectly cooked and then sliced for ease of eating. Thoughtful, thank you kitchen team - no gal likes a messy steak sanga. Rocket, aoli and pickled red onions, on gently toasted panini. Each bite consistent with the last. Highly recommend. Disclaimer: this may set a new bar for any other future steak sangas. You may also want to...
Read moreIconic beer, poor food.
Truly one of the best beers in the world (oh boy, I mean it!) just doesn’t deserve such overpriced and mediocre food. The menu desperately needs a review - it’s an emergency, guys!
First, the compliments: it’s such an honour to welcome MC to Redfern. That’s exactly the business we need in here. Great atmosphere, clean place, unique vibe.
Now, the painful stuff: Started with fries: mid, could be crunchier, and with a sauce that is forgettable, too salty. Felt like it came straight out of Aldi. Barramundi was overpowered by too much sauce in the salad. I know it’s fish, but does it need to come with the pond? Burger was meh. Very mid meat blend, not properly shaped (cracking), soggy (which tells it wasn’t properly sealed on the grill), served between sad, sad buns.
The service could be better too. It’s perfect when inside, but if you are outside be ready to pile every dish. They will never go there to check your table.
I deeply hope it can change very soon. Winter is coming and, as I local, all I want is cosy place and food. Happy to change this review...
Read moreIt is a little pub selling Mountain culture beer!! My favourite beer in NSW, Status Quo from the tap… you’d like this place if you are into beer, excellent and fresh. And the atmosphere is hip and fun.. the live music was getting ready although it was mid afternoon weekday, so good vibe with nice, helpful and friendly staff and people. Also they have usual pub activities as well, like kids eat free sunday, or Trivia night. Unfortunately food wasn’t great. We ordered lunch special - cheeseburger and chicken schnitzel. The chips were good, but no sauce, which makes them dry at the end of the meal. Buns on cheeseburger was slightly stale and the patty as well as schnitzel was overcooked and dry. Perhaps they didnt put effort in it because it was weekday or cheaper special.. but it was disappointing. I may not go back for food because there are many good pubs in Sydney.. but well...
