Update 13-11-2024 Pablo and Rusty's: A CBD Gem Still Shining Bright Pablo and Rusty's continues to hold its own as a top-notch cafe on Castlereagh Street. My recent breakfast visit confirmed that their commitment to quality and flavor remains strong. I started with a Volcan Azul, Costa Rica coffee, and it was a delightful way to begin the day. The sweet and fruity notes were prominent, and the presentation was impeccable. Served as a double shot with a side of grounds and sparkling water, it felt like a truly premium coffee experience.
The food was equally impressive. The Artichoke Bruschetta was a revelation. Served on chewy sourdough, the combination of artichoke, cottage cheese, shallots, and crispy butter beans was a symphony of textures and flavors. The addition of perfectly soft-boiled eggs and crispy bacon elevated the dish to another level. Those crispy butter beans? Absolutely stunning.
For a sweet treat, the Portuguese Custard Tart was a must-try. This generously sized tart boasted a crisp, golden crust and a luscious, creamy custard filling with a hint of caramel. It was the perfect ending to a satisfying breakfast.
Beyond the delicious food and coffee, Pablo and Rusty's offers impeccable service in a well-presented and clean setting. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the food arrives promptly. It's no wonder this cafe is a go-to spot in the area.

Read more1 star for the terrible and slow food. +1 star for compensating by making my lunch and coffee free.
Came for brunch on Saturday - arrived at 11am. Ordered a latte and porridge. Latte arrived in a reasonable time, but it was this massive mug of milkiness which didn't really taste like coffee. Porridge arrived at 11:30am and was cold - really cold. The coldness made whatever sweet ingredient they'd featured (buttermilk or similar I think) taste really gross and it was totally inedible.
Sent the porridge back. The waitress was great - didn't hesitate to take the porridge. I asked for a burger instead, since I was really hungry by that point and my partner's burger looked decent.
25 minutes later, the burger still hadn't arrived. I asked where it was and the waitress went and asked the cook. Looking over, I could see that it had been sitting idle in the cooks area. It looked like the cook was taking no initiative to get the food out and the wait staff couldn't be sure which food was finished and ready to take.
The waitress returned with the burger - really embarrassed by this stage. She apologised and let me know that I wouldn't be charged and asked if my partner and I wanted another (free coffee), which we declined.
Burger was really cold.
We were only charged for my partner's burger - not for our coffees nor for my...

I enjoyed a juicy Kenyan filter coffee: Kiriaini (Ndiara Coffee Factory); fully washed; Batian, Ruiru, SL28, and SL34. According to P&R, this coffee is a perfect example of the coffee communities coming together in Kenya for the common purpose of providing them with the best possible quality of coffee.
I also got my Huskee cup. Huskee is a cool looking and durable reusable cup, that is made from coffee husk. And the best: Huskee is now also a Certified B...
