(Service is 1 star, food 3.5-4 star) This was a place of our family’s tradition, where we would celebrate our reunion every time we were in Sydney. I understand that holiday weekend could have been hectic, but we also expect a certain level of experience when we book a nice restaurant to celebrate a special occasion.
Our server had a fun personality and was friendly. However, he was slow to provide even the basics like plates to be able to have our olives and bread (we sat there for at least 15 minutes before we could start eating). During the dinner, we ordered an extra glass of wine which took half an hour before we had to go pick it up ourselves. We tried to follow up several times but the servers kept saying it was another person’s responsibility and that they would be with us shortly. The meat was cold by the time we went to get the wine ourselves.
We had made eye contacts with who we believe to be the manager many times, and despite us calling him over a number of occasions, he only attended to other bigger tables around us. We tried to communicate and share our experience with someone at the restaurant before we left but it was clear that no one was interested in engaging further, including our server who clearly knew that he had messed up several times.
The food quality is in line with what you would expect at a traditional steak restaurant at a similar price range. However, there are so many restaurants in the city where you will have the quality of food, value and experience...
Read moreFirst off I must commend the front of house staff for their efforts to make our night as enjoyable as possible.....However......I ordered a dry aged sirloin and was served a rib eye!....when questioned the embarrassed waiter stated that the chef told him that was the dry aged sirloin! (I think the chef/line cook meant to say that that was the dry aged steak they had available), something that the(also embarrassed) manager tried to explain later to me....anyway, after waiting 20mins for my chewy substitute wagyu sirloin to arrive (It takes me 8mins to cook a steak to medium rare) it was completely raw in the center at one end and perfectly cooked at the other...how could you not re-fire an order straight away after stuffing up the first one!!!!!!! and how could you not trim a piece of steak to be a constant thickness?....the fact that this is supposed to be a steakhouse boggles the mind.....the side of greens with macadamia butter was an over boiled(microwaved maybe?) dish with some macadamia bits thrown on top with no hint of butter anywhere....the side of mushrooms were however, very well cooked and tasty, as were the entrees.....I know its been a difficult time due to the pandemic but I would have though that it would have been a reason to try and excel in every way to make the customer happy, especially in the kitchen.....Thanks again to the FOH staff for their efforts....the 2 stars...
Read moreI came here every year for my birthday because a member of the restaurant you get a birthday steak for free and usually they also offer a complimentary cake. But this year, the experience is not as great as before.
I called the day before to confirm my booking and double checked that I can come 1 day earlier than my actual birthday date to enjoy the birthday benefit. They told me it’s okay and checked my account for the minimum spend requirement and everything is all good.
When I came today, they told me that because all our previous dining points have gone into my husband account and he is obviously not having a birthday tomorrow, I am not eligible to have a free steak. Honestly, we have taken friends and families here before we didn’t just come today for 1 free steak. With the rest of food and wine, we are likely to spend more than $200 anyway. Plus I got that deal every year before. And this is after I doubled checked over the phone. There is no apologies of the mixed up. The waiter was looking at my husband the entire time while explaining this. I tried to talk and I was not acknowledged.
I would say the food is good but for the price you pay, you’d expect it to be good. Overall, 3 out...
