This hot pot restaurant is a culinary gem that should not be missed. From the fresh vegetable and mushroom plate to the sea food, flavourful broths, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere combine to create a dining experience that is truly outstanding. Whether you're a hot pot enthusiast or a first-time adventurer, this restaurant will leave you craving for more. From the moment I walked through the door, I knew I was in for a memorable dining experience. This establishment has truly mastered the art of hot pot and has become my go-to destination for a sizzling feast. The moment you settle into your seat, the warm and inviting atmosphere envelops you, setting the perfect ambiance for a delightful meal. The attentive and friendly staff ensure that you feel right at home, offering recommendations and guiding you through the hot pot journey ahead keep in mind you only have a limited time to dinner experience, time will vary depending on the night of the week 90min on Friday night. The selection of ingredients available is simply outstanding. From an array of fresh vegetables, succulent meats, delicate seafood, choices are endless. Each ingredient is of the highest quality, and the attention to detail is remarkable. The option to customise your dipping sauces further enhances the dining experience, allowing you to create the perfect blend of flavour ors to suit your palate. The star of the show, of course, is the hot pot itself. Whether you prefer a mild and comforting broth or crave a fiery and adventurous one, this restaurant offers a range of options to satisfy every taste. The restaurant's cleanliness and hygiene standards are impeccable, ensuring a worry-free dining experience. The spacious seating arrangements and comfortable surroundings create a convivial atmosphere that is perfect for socialise with friends and family. Five stars are well-deserved for this sizzling hot pot haven! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Level 3 of Market City underwent a complete rehaul a while back and has been transformed into the 1909 Dining Precinct, which now includes Dolar Shop. It's a Hot Pot restaurant I've definitely heard good things about, so I had to find out why. The first 30 seconds really get to say a lot about how much they value their customers here. I was shown to my table and given a brief intro into how Hot Pot works (if you're not aware already), and a quick background about the restaurant itself. On the way you can see everything being prepared fresh and get your first look at their extensive sauce bar. Most people know communal Hot Pots, but Dolar Shop are well known for their single serve pots. This means you can tailor the broth to your personal liking. There's a number of different spice levels to choose from, as well as others including pork bone, spare rib, mushroom, or tomato and oxtail. Now the meat and seafood is where Dolar Shop shines. Everything is of the highest quality with cuts including M9+ premium Wagyu beef, and fresh seafood from the live tanks outside. The whole venue screams premium and that's apparent in every aspect of our evening. From our attentive server, the quality of food, the interior, and the incredible flavours from everything on our table! They can also cater for anyone from single diners all the way up to events with 40+ people. To date this is my favourite Chinese Hot Pot in Sydney and I strongly encourage anyone to see that for themselves.

5 stars all round. We’ve been here twice now and it’s becoming our new go-to hotpot place. We had a long standing relationship with Haidilao but with its increasingly overwhelming popularity, the dining experience and overall quality seems to have taken a toll. This is where The Dolar Shop makes up for it tenfold. Compared to the more popular franchise, The Dolar Shop is on a similar price point but the portion sizes are more generous. The quality of the food and variety of the food is also very good and at a high standard. Service attentiveness and standards are high and is comparable (if not, better) than Haidilao. The staff do have this obsession with clearing your plates and swapping out big plates for smaller plates as you eat through your order of beef, tripe, veg etc. but at least they don’t take your jug of water to fill up the cups of another table. In general the staff are sensible, attentive, and do their job exceedingly well. The soup bases are rich and delicious and the selection of condiments and complementary fruit and soft serve makes for great value for money. Best of all, there is no time limit. So you can sit and enjoy your meal without feeling the pressure of being on the clock. They also don’t do gimmicky birthday songs or have someone Kung fu swing noodles in front of your face - gathering dust whilst the noodles are tossed and pulled through the air.

Very disappointing! I made a booking for 9 people on 5 Feb 2025 at 12:30pm for my birthday with my office colleagues; 7 of which never had hotpot before or never had hotpot in Dolar Shop. So everyone was so looking forward for the lunch. But when we got there, the restaurant was closed with notification at the front saying they're having a team building event. They didn't even bother to inform me who made the booking. What's weirder was my friend called the restaurant on the day before around 5pm to check whether it's ok to bring a cake for my bday lunch the next day which was booked at 12:30pm for 9 people. The staff answered it's ok to bring a cake & she ended the call with "see you tomorrow!". I've been coming to Dolar Shop many times throughout these years & honestly it's my family's favourite hotpot place. But what happened was really disappointing & made me think how they don't value & appreciate their loyal customers.

Update on 11/02/2025: After my post, I missed a call from a rep of Dolar Shop & she texted me to say how they tried to call me 3 days after booking was made & then cancelled the booking because they couldn't get through, then she said a booking cancellation txt was sent to my mobile. Another rep, Elaine, in her response to my review said there were 'several attemps to contact plus a text'.

First, I made bookings many times before in Dolar Shop & the resto never called me to re-confirm booking. Additionally, to cancel booking just because you couldn't get in touch doesn't sound right to me. Second, the booking confirmation via text was the only thing I received after calling them to make the booking. No missed calls/no voicemail/no text/no other notifications received afterwards. Third, how come when my friend called the day before & she mentioned the booking time & details, there's no indication from the staff that the resto will close the next day.

I appreciate how the 2 reps tried to set things right, but their explanation didn't aligned with what happened & hence didn't make sense to me.

This review purely expressed my disappointment with my experience, as well as how my review was handled. I don't expect anything other than sincere apology & honest explanation & acknowledgement of what happened. So this is such a...

I had visited to dollar many times and it has always been the best in my opinion. Today I strongly recommend to my friends to dollar hot pot to celebrate our Mother’s Day.

However After today’s experience we are definitely not coming back!

Firstly, when we arrived the shop at around 5:15pm the staff ask if we have booking, we said no and they ask for my name and contact number and says they will text me when the table is ready around 1 hour time. When I waited more than 1 hour I went to the reception 6:30pm check with the staff when is our turn. She asked me about my name and seems like they didn’t put my info on the waiting list and ask my number again and send me the text immediately and said table will be ready in 5 mins.

Second, when we went to the sauce bar to get our sauce the sesame paste was run out. We asked the staff who replacing plate at the sauce bar he said it will be refill soon and recommended us to go back to our table and ask the waiter who at our area to bring it to us. When we asked the waiter who served our table he refused.

Today is Mother’s Day and they were giving out flowers to Mothers. We asked the waiter can we have a flower too since we were both mothers. He said: the flower is only for mothers, and explained we are mother too, and he said you have no child with you, we only give out the flower when your child come with you… So does it means just because we didn’t have our child with us to have dinner together we are not meet the requirements to get a flower to celebrate our Mother’s Day? This completely ruined out Mother’s Day.

It has been so embarrassing taking my friend to this restaurant after I praised their outstanding service. This has been the worst customer service experience I have received in a restaurant.

Thank you...
