I’ve always been a Yayoi fans ever since they only have one outlet which is in The Galeries and Yayoi Garden, which too bad closed down few weeks ago. Missus and I had our 2 years of anniversary celebrated in garden in fact. Yayoi opened quite rapidly between this two years which is really good. Yayoi Galeries are always pack with long waiting hours and with quite limited seatings. Good thing they opened more outlets now. Went to try out market city outlet with few friends during weekend. A day before I googled review the outlet and majority of the feedback were pointing on their service which in short, sucks. Still I choose the market city outlet and let’s just see how bad it will get as to my own experience with Yayoi, their service is alright I don’t find anything wrong of bad about it though. We arrived around 4 pm with only 2 tables occupied. It was after lunch hour so all the restaurants around are mostly empty. Staffs didn’t even notice our existence when we walked in as they were chatting and giggling but immediately we were assist to a table when they realised there were customers. The waitress told us that we can ordered with the wall pad and left. We were left without any serves of table drinks until we ordered 3 glasses of booze. Waitress brought our booze along with 3 glasses of table water which is correct as all booze must serves with water but we were 4 people and she should bring 4 glasses instead but I’ve got to ask for one more for my friend who doesn’t drink alcohol nor ordered any other drinks at all. Food were serve quite fast too. For the food we don’t have any complain because their quality is no doubt the most consistency among the rest. Waitress clear our tables and immediately put the bill on our table. We were confused as we never asked for the bill but my friends wish to have more plum wines and I was thinking of getting another round of beer. I looked around and still there were only like 4 tables occupied, which included ours. It’s not that it is so busy which they need to turnover the table. We feel like being “invited” to leave immediately after we finish our meal without wanting us to stay any longer even for a dessert. Now I understand why the reviews are so badly pointing on their service. Indeed it is not the Yayoi way to serve customers. I have to agree on it that service in market city outlet sucks. Management should have a proper training on the Chinatown outlet staff. Even it’s open in Chinatown, they shouldn’t give the Chinatown service style alright. Management please...
Read moreThis is a new branch from the famous Yayoi Japanese chain-restaurant group. The menu is the same with the one at older branches in QVB / Town Hall and Chatswood suburbs. Their strength is in their traditional Japanese Teishoku dishes which shows balanced diet of rice / udon along with protein dish plus miso soup and veggies / salad as companion. Their rice is always nice Japanese rice which is perfect to enjoy with the traditional dishes being offered. I tried their Ton Shogayaki teishoku set and Matcha Warabi Mochi as dessert and they're similar like the ones I tried at other branches but somehow I think they're not as good / refined like the ones I tried in QVB and Chatswood branches. The pork is a bit too dry and the warabi mochi did not have enough matcha on them. Their service is also a bit lacking especially during busy times though it may be due to the branch being just newly opened. Just like other branches, the ordering system uses tablet computer at the table and they're quite efficient. All in all, a solid addition to Japanese food fans in Chinatown area.
Edit: I return to check their recent promotions with some menu items discounted (20%) and I found it very good value. They use good ingredients in the food dishes like real wagyu, miso soup and Japanese rice but charge the same price with other places offering lesser quality ingredients. In addition, they accept CC payment (including AMEX) with no minimum amount and no surcharge. I could not see any problem with service as well, the service was good and efficient as usual from any Yayoi outlets in Sydney. ...
Read moreService is extremely poor for the price it serves. The foods is okay so I came back with a friend, and his order came out with a fly on the tray. We tried to get it to fly away but it wouldn't, so we used a tissue to push it to a side and asked one of the waitresses to get rid of it. But the waitress respond was so rude, and she asked me what she can do with it!!??? Then continued saying she can't do anything about it and left it. She then had the audacity to make fun of my request to other waitresses. I had to push the tissue off the table because NO WAY IN HELL IM EATING WITH A MASSIVE FLY CRAWLING AROUND ON THE TABLE NEXT TO MY FOOD. They had to walk passed it like five times, taking turn to ignore the tissue on the floor before they decided they CAN get rid of it. This restaurant service is a joke. They rather their customers sit there eating while having to constantly watch the fly on the table that kept crawling toward your foods. Or is it that they want the customer to kill the fly that came out with their foods in their restaurants for them???? Imagine I actually squashed that fly on their table and maggots start coming out of the fly, I CAN then call the council on them if that is what they want.
P/s: this restaurant even try to delete your photo off your review. I will continue re-uploading it, because this act of covering up is certainly disrespectful to your customers. You should improve your management and your customer service, rather than sitting there...
