I have had a lot of positive experiences at this restaurant in the past and I have to admit the dumplings are really delicious and affordable for the price.
However, this recent horrible experience has completely changed my perception of this restaurant.
Incident happened around lunch time 18 January 2025. I was with a friend and ordered specifically 2 bowls of dumplings with soup. We were provided with the wrong items (pan fried dumplings).
Approached a kitchen staff member and asked to have the dishes replaced for the correct ones. As we have ordered it with soup. Not only was the staff member rude but she informed us that “this cannot be done” and we should “just eat what was given”. “It’s not her mistake”. How does that even make sense.
A lot of back and forth that resulted in my friend and I walking out with a refund and never to return again. And the staff member shouting words of how “I’ve treated her with disrespect”. “Just because I’m a customer I can’t treat her this way”.
I’m sorry, but what disrespect? me expecting the items I paid for and ordered?
Just the sheer amount of entitlement to even usher those words. It’s ridiculous, so be warned. It is a restaurant that hires people who treats paying customers this way. Absurd, take your money...
Read moreThe hygiene standards in this restaurant are absolutely terrible. The chef actually used the same spoon that was cooking the noodles to taste the food, and then, without rinsing it, put it back into the pot. I don’t think anyone would want to eat something contaminated with a stranger’s saliva, especially when we have no idea whether that person has any infectious diseases.
Moreover, they store ingredients in plastic buckets. It’s well known that food above a certain temperature should never be placed in any kind of plastic container, as the heat can cause the plastic to melt and release harmful substances that can lead to illness.
In addition, the staff member at the front counter who was making pancakes was wearing gloves, but he didn’t take them off when handling money. After touching cash with the same gloves, he continued to prepare food for customers without changing them. I understand they may want to avoid wasting gloves, but gloves are not expensive. Is the cost of a pair of gloves really more important than the customers’ health and safety?
I truly hope the owner sees this and takes action to improve the restaurant’s serious hygiene problems. The food tastes good, but the cleanliness is...
Read moreVery average breakfast.
Had high hopes given it was relatively busy and full of Chinese locals, however after a few minutes it was evident that every order was wrong, and the table next to us was quite frustrated.
We ordered a plate of pan fried pork buns and the Shanghai style normally has soup. This version was oily, however was fairly flavourful. I thought ordering the Jian Bing would be good, but it was quite flavourless and just crunchy from the cracker, without much else. Not a cheap meal either, so unless you really crave it, perhaps some of the buns across the road are cheaper and also does the job.
Some people got the wonton soups, so maybe that's where the star is, but otherwise, this...
