Vietbanhmese has been open for a week as of this posting. It's in the premises that was formery Le's Vietnamese Roll.
You can still get a quick snack or Banh Mi to go. The new interior and layout, with mix of bench and dining tables, is much better now - it looks and feels like a small cafe. Once they sort out a front sliding door arrangement to cut down the road noise it will be an even better place to drop by for a takeaway roll, or to sit down at a bench or table for an after work meal.
Sat at a side bench and ordered rice paper rolls and the Special Pho on the way home from work. Both served in good time and on good dinnerware. The condiments (hoisin sause, chilli sauce, chillis etc) were brought out with the meal. The complimentary hot tea was fragrant and refreshing, even served in a squared glass. The rice paper rolls and Pho were filling. The service was friendly and the cost inexpensive.
Yes there are better Vietnamese restaurants up at Cabramatta or Bankstown but for Liverpool, especially right across from the busy train station, this is a great little place for a taste of the Vietnamese favourites. At either of those other places this would warrant 3 stars, but for the Liverpool area this deserves 4 stars and gets an extra star for the tea and new layout. Great...
Read moreWent in and was gonna get a banh mi but it looked like they didn't have the pork meat. Saw the crackling and got excited to get a crackling pork roll so I ordered that instead.
First of all, not enough salad. The carrots weren't even enough to cover the whole roll. Secondly, the first bite already had a funny flavour. The crackling basically tasted like when you have an old stale bag of pork crackling and you reheat it up in the air fryer to make it crispy again. Had that rancid taste to it. And it's more like the pork rind crackling in a bag rather than legit skin crackling from a roast pork. Thirdly, the roast pork itself was so dry and tasteless with no marinade or seasoning. And finally, the bread was soft and stale instead of crispy and fresh.
This could be one of the worst crackling pork rolls I've ever had. Canley Vale and Marrickville Pork Rolls are a hundred times better! With a name like Vietbanhmese, you'd expect their banh mi and pork rolls to be good. Their other Vietnamese dishes might be better, but for a pork roll place, go around the corner in Liverpool and get a better one and...
Read moreThis continued my roll of finding good Vietnamese food. The location is opposite the railway station in the less trendy part of Liverpool, but the passing trade keeps it relatively busy. We had a crispy pork banh mi and sugarcane juice. We were served by an extremely polite lady who was friendly and engaging. She even gave us a sample of something else to try. Prices were very good, as was the quality and taste of our purchases. I'd highly recommend this place for a banh mi. It has a small number of tables...
