This restaurants location and price assumes an amount of quality, flare and service that unfortunately are completely lacking I purchased the Christmas Day lunch for $225 and I can’t explain how deeply disappointed and upset I am at the experience and the food on Christmas Day. I booked this venue based off a lot of research of what venues were offering a Christmas Day lunch. As someone spending Christmas alone this year without any friends or family, it meant a lot that this lunch would be a good experience. Being a single diner, I don’t expect the world when it comes to table location but I was put in a corner where the placement had me facing the corner of the room instead of out what was an average window view, the floor in the corner was unswept and I was promptly forgotten by the staff and the kitchen. At 30mins into a strict 2hr seating, I flagged down the waitress to ask when the food would start coming out 40mins later the starter bread AND entree to arrived… The mushroom and truffle pate entree had good flavours but double bread due to the starter coming out at the same time didn’t work well. Also did not match the menu - mushroom and truffle pate, not truffle pate with a side of wild mushrooms and bread. Bread starter’s cranberry butter was cold and rock hard, eventually able to be eaten AFTER entree to in order to let the butter soften. Nice flavours but as above too much bread all at once. Mains; Pitiful plate of sides: Carrots almost cold & overcooked (mushy). Could not taste the honey. No bocconcini in the Tomato side, only tomato’s. Balsamic glaze tasted like cheap store bought glaze Potatoes were cook well and tasty Turkey and stuffing very poorly presented. Gravy on turkey over powering and acidic not balanced at all by the stuffing. No cranberries to be found… the whole dish was of a very poor flavour balance When I question the staff where the cranberries were, the final answer was that they were in the base… the base being the sauce(?)… there was no sweetness in the sauce what so ever. Again not as per menu I returned half of the main to the kitchen Palette cleanser was almost warm, not cold as it should be being cucumber Desert; Lemon pie desert filling had a nice flavour but the base wasn’t to my liking but not inedible (thin and hard). This desert was not amazing but not bad. I left a comment with the staff as I left, a “sorry and we’ll do better next time” reply. I will not be coming back. Staff: Inattentive, not rude but seemed flustered by the small amount of people that were there and stretched a little thin. All seemed slightly inexperienced and not to the standard you would expect from the prices / location. Music; The bass is ridiculous…. All you can hear is thumping bass like a night club I hope the length of this review translates just how disappointed I am in this experience. For $225 this was an utter and complete rip off not to mention the impact to such a special day.

A Must-Visit Spot in Tasmania! This place is a gem — the view is stunning, and the food and service are top-tier. The oysters and seafood were incredibly fresh and bursting with flavour, and every dish we tried was beautifully prepared. The cocktails? Absolutely top-notch! I really appreciated the menu design — clean, simple, and easy to navigate, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We visited a few other spots during our trip, but this one stood out as the clear favourite. It’s the perfect place to stop before or after a visit to the MONA museum. A special shoutout to Praveena and Bikram — their warmth and genuine hospitality made us feel so welcomed. The service was truly exceptional. We even came back a second time before heading home — that’s how much we loved it. Highly recommend!

Disappointing was really looking forward to lunch however service not the best, ordered a bottle of wine for the server to disappear and come back 5 mins later advising they didn’t have while this is ok we can choose another wine was hard to work out what she was saying was available. Ordered a few different small plates 4 in total to try different options served one of the meals to someone else who ate some of it before I received it myself. Didn’t get all options of plates ordered until rest of table finished their meals quite disappointing as a whole. Received 2 only. One of our guests had to go and ask for the rest of the meal to be organised. Wouldn’t recommend

We got married weekend just gone, Saturday 12/03/22. It had been postponed 3 times and was much anticipated, the most exciting night of our lives. The event was held at the Glasshouse, above the waterline restaurant. We wanted to go down to the decking on the front of the pier for some photos with our family (13 people) after the ceremony and we were informed that this area is PUBLIC space. It is not owned by the Glasshouse or Waterline and is accessed separately, therefore we were reassured this was perfectly acceptable. We were there maybe 15mins. We let off some freeze-dried rose petal cannons for photos on the deck. These are 100% biodegradable and environmentally friendly, even the canisters themselves are cardboard and being freeze-dried the petals dissolve easily. They are not confetti, paper or plastic.

An incredibly rude staff member from the restaurant- maybe the manager? came on to the deck immediately after and handed members of my wedding party dust pans and brooms, instructing them to sweep up the rose petals that had not immediately blown into the water. He said it ‘wasn’t a good look for his restaurant’.

Given this is public decking and we were in no way polluting, defacing or disrespecting this space I am so disappointed that the moment of joy and love we were attempting to eternalise into photographs had to be so disgustingly and rudely disrupted. It was the manner of the staff member in question that was most distressing, and to be perfectly honest it was a far worse look for your restaurant that you made an obscene incident out of a few harmless rose petals- your dinner customers all witnessed you making this ridiculous fuss over some dried flowers (how embarrassing for you!).

We have previously enjoyed Waterline restaurant, it is one of our favourite breakfast haunts. We will never be returning, and nor will any of the guests invited to our wedding. This was such a disappointing experience on what should have been a night of wonderful celebration. I was so horrified watching my family members sweep up the few rose petals that hadn’t blow straight into the water and I can’t believe there is a person in this world who is SO MISERABLE he couldn’t bare witness to and enjoy a harmless celebration of love without raining...

One of the Worst dining experiences I've ever had in Hobart!

My husband and i booked here for Valentines day dinner after seeing it advertised on TV. When we arrived, the space was only 1/4 full and we were offered a horrible table. We requested to move to another vacant table and they accommodated and gave us a menu. After 20 minutes we finally had a waitress come over to ask us for our drink order, we also informed them we had two different menus and asked which one was correct. The waitress took the menus and said she'd go and fix it up and bring us correct ones. SHE NEVER CAME BACK!

After another 10-15 minutes another waitress came up and asked us if we wanted food or drink and we informed we didn't have any menus still, she then took our order.

During this time another couple walked out because they also had not been served after being seated.

We received entree's which weren't anything to write home about, a tables were not cleared or offered more drinks and we then received our mains. They were extremely disappointing, we had the beef and chicken skewers as the meal my husband originally wanted they had run out of. The beef and mushroom skewer had only 2 of the tiniest mushrooms on it and 4 small pieces of beef.

Once again, we were not asked how the meal was and had to get up and go to the counter to pay and leave - once again no one asked how i food or experience was.

Overall a terrible service experience with bland and...
