Empire Grill — Restaurant in Victoria

We had been keen to dine here having heard great reports about the food, albeit on the pricey side. Sad to say it didn't live up to expectations. Service was extremely good with friendly and attentive staff. The food was pretty average. Calamari looked and tasted like it had been cooked from a frozen packet. Steaks were ok, one of our party ordered rare but it wasn't. Green beans looked a bit the worse for wear and the fish of the day was pretty dry and underwhelming. I know this is at odds with other reviews but all of us were disappointed and expected more. The chocolate mousse was nice once you managed to get through the gelatinous stuff covering it which again seemed like something that had been brought in and not prepared in the kitchen. We did find the presentation of the salt and pepper funny, paper sachets like McDonald's, but again not what we expected from a restaurant with the reputation Empire Grill has.

extremely overpriced!!! I can't believe how much money I wasted at this place. It is cheaper to prepare your own BBQ and feed the entire nation of Kenya. How can you send your waiters around only to serve cold water?? With your prices you should be serving everyone consistently by free pouring top shelf scotch. Don't you have soft drinks or beer or anything else to offer other than cold water? Are these alternative expensive for your business? I still can't believe how small your dishes were. The steak was so small and the dessert was a portion of a little teaspoon. I have never left a restaurant before suffering from starvation. If you're in the mood for steak and water and you're willing to pay a ridiculous prices, this is the place to go. Don't ask for ice....... that could seriously leave...

1 dinner, 3 courses, 1 delicious cocktail and 2hrs of OUTSTANDING service. Empire Grill provides a diverse modern Australian menu, with nothing short of flawless "old school, and proper" hospitality service.

Each course was delicious, completely without fault, and despite sharing the restaurant with a few big tables, very little delay between ordering and receiving each course.
