Family Pho Vietnamese Restaurant
Waiter Review: Isaac
Isaac is the most odd and wonderful waiter you will ever meet. He is tall and slender, with long flowing hair and piercing blue eyes. He is always dressed in the most eclectic mix of clothes, from vintage suits to brightly colored kimonos.
But it's not just his appearance that makes Isaac so unique. He has a way of talking to you that is both charming and baffling. He is always telling stories, but they are never quite straightforward. He will often go off on tangents and end up talking about something completely different from what he started with. But somehow, it all makes sense in the end.
One of the things I love most about Isaac is that he is always up for a good time. He is always smiling and laughing, and he has a knack for making everyone feel welcome. He is also incredibly knowledgeable about food and wine, and he is always happy to make recommendations.
But what really makes Isaac stand out is his oddness. He is always doing and saying unexpected things. For example, one time I asked him for a recommendation for a red wine, and he told me to try the "Dragon's Breath." I had never heard of it before, but he insisted that it was the best wine in the world. So I ordered it, and it was delicious!
Another time, I was sitting at the bar waiting for my food, and Isaac came over and started talking to me. He told me about his travels to Vietnam and all the amazing things he had seen and done. He also told me about his family and his dreams for the future. I was so captivated by his stories that I completely forgot about my food!
Isaac is a true one-of-a-kind individual. He is the kind of person who makes you feel like you can be yourself, no matter how strange or different you are. He is the kind of person who makes going to a restaurant a truly unique and memorable experience.
Here are some of the oddest things I have ever seen or heard Isaac do:
He once told me that he could speak to animals. I didn't believe him at first, but then he started talking to a pigeon that was sitting on the patio, and the pigeon seemed to understand him! He once levitated in the middle of the dining room. I'm not sure how he did it, but it was pretty impressive. He once disappeared for an entire hour and then came back with a tray of food that he said he had cooked himself in another dimension. The food was delicious, but I'm not sure I believe his story. He once told me that he was a time traveler. I didn't believe him at first, but then he told me about some future events that he claimed would happen, and they all actually happened! I don't know what to make of Isaac. He is a mystery to me. But I do know that he is the best waiter I have ever had. He is always friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. He is also incredibly odd, but that's just part of his charm.
If you are ever at Family Pho Vietnamese Restaurant, be sure to ask for Isaac. He is an experience you will...
Read moreOne for the history books! Ok where to start... Visiting Geelong over the long Australia day holiday 2019. Kids wanted noodles and this place was close to the apartments we were staying at so we thought why not. Being pho it ain't exactly the classiest of joints but at least we thought it would be family food. Menu looked good. Lots of dishes that you dont expect to see at a pho shop. An enthusiastic, if amateur waiter took our order. 5 bowls of Pho and 2 spring rolls, some fried tofu, some honey prawns and drinks. Homemade spring rolls are definitely not homemade! No way you could convince me otherwise. Didn't taste horroble but definitely not homemade. Pho comes out after like 15 mins - a time frame we aren't used to in Melbourne... normally it's like 3 minutes... and the first bowl we give to the kids (3y and 6y) and there literally isnt enough pho in the bowl to fill two small bowls. Dont get me wrong. They didnt skimp on the meat but the noodles were somewhat absent. Two more bowls followed shortly thereafter which had decent amounts of noodles. Fearing the kids wouldn't have enough we asked to order a separate side of noodles. Waiter was kind and explained it was $4(?) for noodles and soup and we told him we wanted just noodles ($1?) Now I know it sounds cheap but realistically who wants to drink more msg soup!? At this point he turns to the kitchen and asks (I presume) for more noodles. Anyways the next 20 seconds are a blur. The waiter and a lady in the kitchen (wife?) start yelling and it escalates very quickly to full blown shouting match. Then at around the 30 second mark there is a crisp skin on skin sound... the lady had slapped him as he put his face through the delivery window to yell at her lol. OH that crisp sound. I can still hear it now. He promptly departs the store via the front door still screaming and my wife myself and my cousin and parents bury our heads in our bowls trying not to laugh, giggle, draw attention or basically anything! Big aussie bloke in the corner waiting for take out can't help but chuckle. Waiter ends up coming back 10 minutes later. After an eternity the tofu comes and the honey prawn comes out as honey chicken so we sent it back. The gentleman was very apologetic but it was all very unprofessional. Anyways. Dinner and a show. Just ask for extra pho......
Read moreI love this restaurant. We always come here when we visit Geelong. The restaurant is beautiful decorated with Hoi An lanterns and beautiful yellow walls. Such a authentic and welcoming vibe, reminding me so much of Vietnam where we traveled to last year.
The food is beyond amazing. They serve traditional authentic Vietnamese dishes and more. Food is fresh, tasty and healthy. I am a Vietnamese and I’m very strict when it comes to Vietnamese food but at Family Pho, wow, very authentic very tasty, almost as good as the food in Vietnam. The pho broth is very well-balanced and delicious, coming with fresh tasty herbs, basil, lemon and bean sprouts. The spring rolls are crunchy and yummy coming with fresh lettuce and tasty homemade fish sauce. Other great dishes such as: salt and pepper chicken, beef in betel leaf, gyoza, dumplings, wontons, singapore noodles, vermicelli noodle salad, pork skewers with satay sauce, garlic prawn, mongolian beef… great vegan and gluten-free options as well.
Customer service is very friendly and professional. The waiters and waitresses always smile and quickly serve us. We really love them....
The location is very easy to find and they have a lot free street parking. The street view to the church also beautiful.
Highly extremely recommend this great restaurant to everyone. If we have another chance to visit Australia and Geelong, we will definitely go back to Family Pho. Thank you so much for making our Australian...
