Upon arriving the waitress found us a table quickly, despite having no booking and majority of the tables were already reserved. The atmosphere was energetic, yet comfortable.. lots of people out for breakfast and chatting happily with friends. The menu looked great, lots of interesting sounding dishes. We opted for the Chilli Crab Scrambled Eggs and the Open Faced Steak Sandwich. The eggs were cooked perfectly, a nice soft scramble with a lovely flavour or crab throughout. There was a hint of chilli and slight crunch from the crispy onions. It was a very rich and buttery dish that could have really done with a burst of freshness from a simple garnish. It also lacked colour, being a plate of beige some chilli oil and spring onions could have really added some contrast. The steak sandwich was a massive let down, the steak was dry, overcooked and unseasoned. Medium-rare would have been the preferred cook but it was clearly well done with no hint of pink in sight. The Brie was completely lost amongst the meal, it didn’t really add anything.. but the red chimichurri was beautifully tangy and saved the dish. The coffees were great, really well made and clearly from nice beans. We had a couple of cold-pressed juices that were also really good. All in all it was okay, some nice things but spoiled by the steak. Service was good and I’d definitely come back again to try some other things.

Mount Street Breakfast Bar is one of those hidden gems that makes weekends feel a little brighter. The street-side seating is perfect for people-watching, while inside it’s cosy and inviting. We went for the falafel salad and Turkish eggs – both packed with flavour and clearly made with care. Coffee was smooth and just right to kickstart the morning. There’s a relaxed buzz in the air, light music playing in the background, and the weekend crowd adds a friendly energy. Great spot to grab a bite, wander through the nearby market, or curl up with a book from your own library while enjoying a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. Highly recommend for a laid-back morning that feels just a little special.

Visited this beautiful breakfast bar this afternoon; in fact, walked a good kilometre to get here, because the reviews were glowing and the menu looked interesting.

We reached at around 1 pm and the place was almost full- a good sign.

So, this breakfast bar offers a great blend of modern design and natural elements, creating a welcoming and stylish atmosphere. The interior features clean lines, warm wood accents, and abundant natural light, providing a cozy setting. The elegant setting is only pronounced by the happy vibe of the place. So, for ambience, it is a perfect 5/5

Now, the food. I was excited to see such an interesting menu- a great variety without having a huge list of dishes (very well edited). They also offer a wide selection of wines and cocktails. We ordered the below dishes:

Spanish Baked Eggs with Chorizo and Sourdough

A bold, punchy dish with a nice tangy kick. The chorizo was juicy and full of flavour, while the sourdough had that rustic, airy texture that’s perfect for mopping up the sauce. A solid plate—hearty and satisfying. 4/5

Spanakopita (Deconstructed)

This one missed the mark. It felt like a modern take on a classic that didn’t quite land. Visually interesting but difficult to eat and overcomplicated for such a simple dish. Sometimes, less is more. 2/5

French Toast with Pumpkin Mousse & Sesame Praline

A surprise standout. I was skeptical at first—it sounded like it could be too much—but the balance was spot on. The pumpkin mousse was light, creamy and gently spiced. The sesame praline added a beautiful crunch and nuttiness, and the pomegranate seeds brought bursts of freshness that lifted the whole dish. Clever, delicious, and beautifully plated. 5/5

Wheatgrass elixir

Super refreshing and a perfect drink for the sunny afternoon. 5/5

Iced latte

Decent 4/5

This place had some great food to offer.

The only thing that could have brought this close to a perfect score would have been the spanakopita.

Overall: 4/5

Last but not the least, the service.

The food was prompt- we got our food in no time. The servers were polite, friendly and helpful. Perfect 5/5

Overall score for this place as of now would be a 4.5/5

I will round it off to a 4 star out of 5 for now.

But I will visit again, and I will be so happy if I can change this...

Over 4 years I had lived next door to this Cafe taking people to breakfast sometimes 2-5 people spending on average $20 per head. My average spend per visit $80. Always the service is terrible, always asking for service or others helping themselves to knives and forks or asking twice where their drinks are. So now we take the $80 average per visit x 5 visits a month ( as no where else close by to eat and when you get the food its amazing) and I am spending $400 a month average or $4,800 a year or over 4 years $19,200 WOW who would have thought. How gobsmacked am I on my last visit to find an Idiot local berating a visitor from Sydney in front of staff and a room full of patrons about her wearing Ugg Boots and did nothing.

This went on for 15 minutes as the lady waited for her coffees to go with this patron constantly telling her to go as he was offended by what she wore. I intervened and turned on my camera and approached him with my media card after telling staff I was confronting him , staff fully aware of what had happened. Next minute he gets up from his chair punches me in the face several times ( he is 1/3rd my age and twice my build) and continues until I grab him by his hipster beard lull him to my lever and gave him a few Old Boy fists back. ... Yes I'm 57.

I go to police who viewed my video and took it as evidence of my assault. One year later while living in NSW I'm informed by WA Police I have a Prohibition Order banning me from entering any licensed premises in WA due to a complaint by this Coffee Shop . I think its disgusting this even happened and I think its even more disgusting how they treat regulars as well as visitors from over seas . For this reason I give a 1 star as there is no minus rating your staff have no respect for your business and as a holiday venue your staff...

We went to this bar to pick up some coffees on Saturday morning around 11:15am. Due to no parking space i had to drop my wife to go in and order coffees. First of all, there was no acknowledgement what so ever from staff as soon as she walked into the door. Da barista and the waitresses kept ignoring her presence until she had to ask someone where to order the coffees from. She then ordered the coffees, paid for them and grabbed chair to sit on while she waited for the coffee. After couple of minutes a waitress came and asked her to go and wait outside the bar for her coffee in da rain as it was a takeaway order. My wife asked her why she had to wait outside in da rain, and rude waitress replied just because its a takeaway order she had to wait outside and other customer had to sit just because there order was a dine in.

I believe whether customer spends $1 or $100, they all deserve to be treated with respect. None of the customers should be asked to go wait outside in the rain while their coffees are being prepared. This definitely was not due to the covid restrictions as if it was, why was then restaurant packed to the roof? Why were customers not seated 2m apart from each other?

I find it seriously offensive asking a customer to wait outside in da rain. Everyone deserves respect whether their order is dine in or takeaway. You should train your staff appropriately to know how to behave around customers. All your staff appeared as if they are not happy to be in that restaurant. If i dint have parking issue i would have asked the waitress to return my money and cancel my order. On top of that, the coffees we got served were burnt and we had to throw them away.

"DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS...
