Came again at 12 noon for Saturday. lunch. Same layout and decoration. Service: No queue. Server put down order slips and pens once you were seated. Then, we needed to hand out the order slips and paid at the cashier. There are all condiments, hard-boiled eggs, sesame in mortars, utensils, and serveitte are already prepared on each table. Chilled tap water will be provided upon request, or get it at the cabinet at the back (I saw that the waitress instructed other customers where to get water, but no sign of self-service). Extra hard-boiled eggs were there, too. --- 6.9/10 Ramen: simple menu with 3 basic flavors of soup. Options for taste of soup, flavored oil, noodles texture, and soup temperature. Free to add spicy bean sprouts. -Red Spicy Ramen, $19.5: served hot with all normal serving preferences (authentic Japanese taste). One big chashu slice was tender. Good portion of black fugus (into pieces) and spring onion. Noodles texture was good. Everything is still good. --- 7.5/10 Tonkotsu Ramen Special (all toppings), $24.5: larger portion of pork Chashu. 1 big nori (seaweed) and 1 whole flavored egg (half-cut) with a mild soft yolk (not cooked to perfection, but close to). --- 7.4/10 3/2022 Venue: Small shop, so packed, ~20 seats brench top or small tables. Decorated like old Ramen shops in Japan with a lot of Japanese posters on the walls. Clean & tidy. Ourdoors dining is available--- 6.7/10 Service: no Japanese style greetings. A bottle of chilled tap water will be provided upon request. All essential utensils, serviette, and seasonings are available on the table. Ramen served fast. --- 6.9/10 Ramen: simple photo menu without detail description. There are 3 basic types of ramen soup with various serving preferences and selections of toppings (add more or remove). Easy to click on the order form. Normal presentation. A bit pricey for the portions of ingredients, but there are free hard-boiled eggs (1 egg was broken in the basket) and bean sprouts. Ramen texture was good as ordered (normal). A large piece of Black fugus wasn't shreded. Pork Chashyu was thin and not very fatty, so one chashu was slightly chewy. Taste of (white) soup was rich and nomal. Spicy soup wasn't spicy enough for my liking. Free bean sprout was chilled but crunchy. There are not many spring onions --- 7.5/10 Second time to visit here. Not sitting at the bar table this time. Now, only got 2 free hardboiled eggs in the basket on the table (for 2 people). Those were more eggs one year ago. I wonder if I can ask 1 more egg. One chef cooks Ramen, so wait longer, but still fast. Tried Black Spicy Ramen this time. It's more salty that I couldn't finish the soup. Pork Chashu was ok. I preferred the Red Spicy soup or...

Haven't been back for 2 years and decided to drop in for a quick lunch last Wednesday. Arrived around 11.30am and was about 3rd in the queue with 2 groups of 4 people in front of me. The inside of the restaurant was already fairly packed but while in the queue, the wait staff provided the order sheet which helped speed up the order process. Didn't take long for me to be seated at one of the counter top seats, probably around 10mins of wait time in total.

The complimentary bean shoots were very nice, as always but the boiled eggs were sadly being devoured by a couple of patrons seated next to me, which when I politely asked if I could get one, they said, go ask the waiter yourself, which I found quite rude. When I asked the wait staff for some, I was informed that I would have to wait for a while, to which I said, it's ok, I didn't really want it anymore which I then overheard the other patrons next to me saying to each other but clearly for my benefit, "what lousy luck one must have". Decided not to engage with such individuals to avoid a scene, after all, am just there for a meal.

My order (black spicy tonkotsu ramen special with all toppings and noodles slightly hard) that arrived was tasty but wasn't quite what I remembered it to be. The broth was saltier than before and the chasyu was a bit cold and hard. Thankfully the broth was hot enough to warm up the chasyu. I was there for a quick lunch time meal as I came from QE2 medical campus via the purple cat bus, I finished up my meal, paid for it and left my other two neighbors who have obviously finished a while ago and are there just eating eggs and passing time.

Overall, the food standard was somewhat adequate but perhaps it was early still when I arrived, my order was not quite what I expected. The ambiance is that of a Japanese ramen bar and has remained unchanged since its opening. It shall be a while again before I head back for another go but hopefully, the order and dining experience will improve...

RAMEN KING indeed! (But do be aware of the card fees. Read below). Been here a few times for office lunch and always enjoy it. They only offer a few soup selections, which I agree: keep it simple and make it the best 🍜 My go to ramen is of course the Special Spicy Ramen that comes with all the ingredients. On top of that, I also usually pay extra for extra charsiu 😋 I also like it that they offer unlimited free boiled eggs and beansprouts on the table, which both go very well complimenting the ramen. SLURRRRPPP!!!

The only criticism I have is the card fees. NOTE: You need to tell them the staff ahead if you pay with a savings card. Otherwise they wouldn't even ask you what type of card you're using and would charge you a fee straight away. Charging a fee to customers is fine, it's all part of running a business, but I do believe you need to inform and ask your customers ahead. Esp if it's a new thing for the business to start charging and also due to the different type of cards that may be used. This place didn't charge any fee at all in the past..not sure when they started it, but when we went a few months ago in this year, it caught us by surprise because we were not informed or asked and there's not even a display at the counter whatsoever to inform the public about the fees. Not a biggie. Just something for customers to know.

Get here early to avoid queue, though if it's just one or two of you, it should be quick to get the seat at the bar. Unfortunately now I have to walk a bit from my new workplace to come here, but fear not...it's so worth it and it's good...

This is my 2nd visit to this ramen restaurant because my 1st experience was quite smooth from the seating to the food. However, this time I came on a Sunday lunch around 12pm near to 1pm and there was a bit of queue with mostly groups waiting. I was alone and I thought the server could seated me at the bar table where it’s mostly for 1 person where there’s a two empty seat at the bar but she told me to wait because there’s a queue although I mentioned to her the ones waiting are all come in group. So i waited for about 20mins now while writing this and still haven’t been seated and queue are getting longer. I don’t wanna be an inconsiderate person by cutting but im just thinking by common sense and customer service wise that you won’t lose a customers by seating them down by numbers. Mind you, the 2 empty seat by the bar is still vacant which I think she could have seated me a while back and I’m a fast eater , I would have finish eating by then and go off. I understand that there’s only 2 server but the owner can hire a part timer especially on a weekend or when it’s full house kinda day. That’s all imma say here. People are hungry, you shouldn’t keep them waiting so long, just lucky that they are nice customers here and mind you this restaurant close at 1430 and there are still a long queue so idk how they gonna expedite this. On a positive comment, ramen was stupendous and didn’t disappoint. Left with a happy belly nonetheless :)
