More i Vino — Restaurant in Salzburg

We chose this restaurant because the ambience of the patio area looked inviting and the reviews were amazing, which is why we couldn’t have been more confused by our experience here. After taking our orders and delivering our drinks, we were completely ignored for over an hour as tables around us were sat and served their mains. Upon finally asking where our starter salad was, it took another 10-15 minutes to show up. At this point, about an hour and a half had passed since we sat down. We finished the salad and waited for another 20ish minutes, during which our server came over and asked what we had ordered in the first place. I understand that orders go missing or kitchen mishaps happen, but our server didn’t come over once to explain or apologize for the delay. When our mains finally showed up, the pasta was overcooked and the sauce was mediocre at best. Everything was also covered in what didn’t seem to be freshly grated cheese but rather looked and tasted like pre-grated store bought cheese. Even when we asked for the bill, our server appeared to be wandering around the restaurant looking for something to do for another ten minutes before she brought it. I’ve walked past this place quite a few times and always thought it looked pretty nice. It had a good vibe, and with a 4.7 rating, I figured: Let’s give it a try

Terrible experience. Here’s everything that went wrong:

Rindercarpaccio: I ordered the Rindercarpaccio as a starter. It tasted “okay,” but for nearly €17 — and considering that half the meat was literally still frozen (some parts were still hard) — that’s just unacceptable.

The Bread: The bread they served was at least 2–3 days old, if not more. Completely dry.

Spaghetti aglio e olio with Gambas: For the main, I had the Spaghetti aglio e olio with Gambas. Not the worst part of the night, but the portion was small, it had no flavor, and it cost almost €25. Definitely not worth it.

Cash Only: There were zero signs saying “cash only.” When I asked for the bill, they told me they don’t accept cards. So I had to get up, walk to an ATM, withdraw cash, and come back just to pay. Major red flag.

Drinks: We had an Aperol Spritz and a Prosecco with strawberries. The Aperol was honestly one of the worst I’ve ever had. Probably way too much sparkling water and barely any Aperol.

An diesem Kleinod, im Herzen der Salzburger Altstadt, ist sicher schon so mancher vorbeigelaufen, denn, außer einem Schild über dem Eingang, wirkt dieses Bar-und Restaurantkonzept doch eher zurückhaltend. Und vielleicht macht gerade dies den Charme dieses mehr als beachtenswerten Lokals aus. Hat man mal die Schiebetür geöffnet, so wird man gleich von der, in sanften Rot-, Blau-, oder Grüntönen illuminierten Bar in eine andere Welt entführt,und die sehr bequemen Barhocker laden zum Verweilen ein. Schnell wird hier deutlich, dass es sich um ein sehr gastfreundliches Lokal handelt. Gäste, die den Weg hierher gefunden haben, kommen immer wieder, und der aufmerksame Service, und nicht zuletzt das gute Essen, die vielen Angebote aus einer ständig wechselnden Speisekarte, machen diese Bar zu einem "Genuss der Sinne". Es ist kein Wunder, dass sich mittlerweile Stammtische gebildet haben,aus Freunden des Kulinarischen.. oder einfach aus Menschen, die nach getaner Arbeit, im frohen Kreise noch ein paar angenehme Stunden verbringen möchten. Auch wenn Sie früher kommen, also ab 17.00h,kann es also sein, dass die kleine Bar schon voll ausgebucht ist. Manchmal wird auch Live-Musik angeboten, oder ein besonderer Künstler, der seine Werke dort ausstellt, veranstaltet dort eine Vernissage. Sowohl der Barchef, als auch der Geschäftsführer selbst, sind für all diese Dinge sehr offen, und es herrscht regelrecht eine familiäre Atmosphäre. Gäste jeden Alters und jeder Nation sind herzlich willkommen und tragen zum besonderen Flair der Bar bei. Es kann also sein, dass man hier Amerikaner, Australier, Koreaner, Japaner, Kroaten und Briten trifft. Genauso international und weltoffen präsentiert sich die Bar. Was das Kulinarische anbetrifft, lässt die Speisekarte kaum einen Wunsch offen. Ein Tipp: Was der Geschäftsführer empfiehlt, würde ich bestellen,denn er kauft alles frisch vom Markt und weiß genau, was gut ist, ist er ja kein unbeschriebenes Blatt in der Gastronomie. Bei meinem Besuch durfte ich nicht nur einen guten kroatischen Rotwein genießen, sondern auch eine Hähnchenbrust auf Zuchchinirisotto. All das hat wunderbar geschmeckt. Die Hähnchenbrust war sehr zart und gut gewürzt, und sie liegt preislich absolut im vertretlichen Rahmen. Inzwischen konnte ich auch, quasi als "Wiederholungstäter" eine erstklassige Forelle genießen, die weit und breit ihres Gleichen suchen dürfte. Auch die Kartoffeln waren ein Gedicht. Meine Begleitung war von den Spaghetti mit Meeresfrüchten (u. a den frischen Muscheln) begeistert. Ich kann nur hoffen, dass noch viele andere Gäste aus nah und fern den Weg in diese sehr gemütliche Bar finden werden. Und in den nächsten Tagen, vor allem unter der Woche, werden Sie bei Ihrem Besuch mit reinem Pianoklang verwöhnt werden. Weitersagen kann...
