It was a different experience. I'm used to hustle. It's very relaxed. One friendly waiter covered the place (at his own pace). There were big family groups in. The family behind us played cards together in between courses.... which fits perfectly with the vibe here. People are here to spend a relaxed evening in spotlessly clean surroundings... and have food served to them with occasional wine top ups. In the UK somebody else would be booked next in my table and I need to vacate in under 2 hours. Not here. There was a vegan option we found.... but vegans should look elsewhere. Most of the food was traditional local fare. Cooked well too and decently presented. Not budget nor breaking the bank. It is hearty food. Tasty. They asked us if we had a reservation we said no and they said they might only have seats inside and to let them check (bier garten was maybe a 1/4 full and remained 1/4 full for the rest of the night).
They sat us in a giant empty room with what seems like the only other English speaking couple in the establishment.
