My overall rating would have been 3 stars (okayish) if the hotel provided room makeup service as it should, or if there was a supply of bottle water as it promised in the website, or if we only stayed for one night and did not care about the missing services.
The positive things about our experience of the stay are the good location (foot distance to the old town; we could easily go out to try out nice cafés and restaurants), well-working WiFi, the quietness, a working air conditioner (which warms up the room well during cold weather), a powerful shower, the availability of lift, and the availability of a parking garage (although the parking space is very small, and we had to pay extra for it).
In this trip we spent 4 nights in the hotel and paid a decent price for it. We were aware of the expensive price range of the hotels in Salzburg city and my husband went for this medium option, hoping that we have a reasonably comfortable stay with good access to the center of the city in walking distance. Based on the pictures of the room, we did not expect highly, but we were still quite disappointed when we checked in. Upon check-in, my husband was told that there would be no daily room makeup service during our stay, due to shortage of manpower. If we need something, we could ask for it.
And how is the room? "Shabby" is the word coming to our mind when we saw it. Imagine the room exactly like how it shows in the pictures, but the furniture is worn-out, and you can find dirts and see stains here and there. It literally has nothing more than what are described in the booking information. For example, the night desks at the two sides of bed are only small space provided by plates without drawers under them; there is no room phone available to communicate with the counter - if you need something for the room (now that there is no one to make up the room), you have to go down to the lobby to ask for it. We wanted to change hotel when we saw the room after check-in, but it was already too late to cancel it without penalty. So we managed to stay through these 4 nights and were quite relieved on the day of check-out.
During the stay, there was no provision of bottle water as it claims in the website (and as normally expected for a 3-star hotel); there is an empty fridge without minibar in the room. The bed is not very comfortable- the mattress is a bit firm and the pillow too soft.
We tried out the paid breakfast buffet on the day of checkout, and also concluded that we did...
Read moreFriendly, helpful and professional staff. My reservation at the Leonardo Airport hotel was bumped off due to overbooking, and moved to the city centre hotel. |The airport receptionist was downright rude and couldn’t have cared less! I had chosen the airport hotel for ease of access to the motorway for an overnight stop on a 1500 mile journey. We had driven for 17 hours and were ready to collapse into bed, but no… the real killer was the fact that I had called the airport hotel 2 hours to confirm our arrival time!! |Anyway we had no choice but to get back in the car and navigate our way to the city centre hotel in torrential rain and with our eyes on matchsticks.|On arrival, the receptionist was so kind and welcoming and helped us with parking and a kettle so that we could make tea once we got to our room. She also arranged for us to have a complimentary breakfast and offered to help with our bags.|The next morning we were really looked after, with the staff apologising for the problems with our booking the night before - which was more that the airport staff did. So a big thank you and shout out to the team at Leonardo city Centre hotel in Salzburg. I...
Read moreArrived at 3 pm and told the room was not ready. We were able to leave our suitcases at the hotel and go for a walk. Came back just past 4 pm to be told our room was ready and given our key cards. The room is in a separate 2 story building out the back with no elevator and no assistance offered with our bags. They just said to 'take our time getting up the stairs.
When we open our room we found multiple empty water bottles lying about the room. The bed was unmade and had lots of dirty tissues both in the bed and on the bed side table. There was also a dirty towel on the ground in the bathroom. Honestly, it was disgusting.
When we advised the hotel staff of the state of the room he came to take a look. He then told the cleaning staff and was laughing about the situation.
We were offered a seat at the bar with a free drink as compensation for the trouble whilst they cleaned the room.
Overall, I was NOT happy with the state of the room or the service provided by the staff. They were very unprofessional and didn't seem to really care.
The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that it is close to the...
