Villa Verde — Hotel in Salzburg

Disappointing. Was really looking forward to this (based on other reviews), so was really quite sad that from the experience that we had we had made the wrong choice for what is a beautiful city. The male owner was fairly friendly, but the woman was pretty rude overall. Told off our 4yo daughter quite abrasively for sitting on the sheep in reception, although the man had told her it was fine to do so the previous night! Also very miserably and abrasively charged us for her camped when we checked out (which was not in the room on arrival, and we were made to feel we were asking a lot for it to be put there, even though when booking it clearly said "your child can stay for free" and we messaged in advance confirming she needed a small bed, she's 4, and maybe it's a cultural thing, but your child staying for free I would not expect that means they have to squeeze into bed with 2 adults! Beware of this when using Booking. com, it really is for the property to be clear what this means when hosting international guests. The rooms were clean, though outs was very very small with nowhere to store anything, plus the shower was in an awkward place and leaked all over the floor no matter what you did. The final straw, the milk was off at breakfast! Quickly changed and apologized for and even though there were some nice choices at breakfast, the off milk kind of put you off the rest! A bit too far out of town for comfort, unless you like a walk under a grimy tunnel, though walkable to the Sound of music house if that's your thing. I stayed at Villa Verde in Salzburg for 3 nights Sept 13-15, 2024. I selected this hotel because I was arriving by car and when researching Salzburg it became quickly apparent that parking can be challenging in that city. I arrived in the afternoon and there was plenty of onsite parking. The whole hotel and rooms are modern and super duper clean!!! I felt at home because aspects reminded me of my apartment back home. I also felt at home because the owners are very welcoming and friendly, you feel like you’ve known them for years! Walking to Salzburg is very easy from the hotel you just walk down the street hang a right go thru a pedestrian tunnel and you’re there in 15-20 minutes depending how fast you walk. I didn’t mind that at all as you walk through the local neighborhood and see daily life. They do offer breakfast every morning and they have many good options from eggs, deli meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereals, juices, water, fresh hot coffees, pastries, fresh baked breads etc. They also have a refrigerator with drinks you just write what you took. Lastly, I can say on this trip I have taken for almost 3 weeks driving from Zurich, Lindau, Füssen, Innsbruck, Salzburg, St Wolfgang, Ammersee, Konstanz that Villa Verde was my favorite. The entire family (two adults and two small children) stayed at Villa Verde on August 13th for five nights. The communication was excellent, and we were able to make changes to the booking before arrival due to a change in flight plans. Although the reception was closed when we arrived, they explained to us where the room was and gave us a lovely villa to stay in. It came with a kitchen equipped with everything needed, including a dishwasher and stove. The whole villa was spotless, including the showers. Each day's cleaning was carried out at the highest standard. There is no air conditioning in the villa. There was only one fan. After asking for another fan for the kids, we received one that very next day. Excellent personal service and a delicious breakfast are available here. We found Iris and Alex to be always available and accommodating. We found the place to be perfect for us. Salzburg's public pool (Freibad Leopoldskron) is literally a few steps away from the location, ideally suited for families with children on hot days.
