- Nice inn with hearty local dishes. Today’s pumpkin cream soup :D Seasonal. Just what I missed a few days ago. It hits the balance between smoothness and pumpkin texture. Savory-sweet and not heavily creamed. Bread croutons add crunchiness and turn into marshmallow. The soup is really soothing after a long morning going through the museum quarter. - Baked liver smells very good (reminding me of falafels somehow). It’s crunchy outside and burst into gamy and spiced flavors— Can someone tell me what kind of animal is used here, lamb or beef liver? (🤔 Now I kind of want to try making it one day. The lady at the bar isn’t cannot explain in English, Orr maybe even in German. Wikipedia says beef, but I’ve seen Austrian family recipes using mixtures and even venison.) Sauerkraut is decent, tangy and soft and balances the more salty liver balls. It probably contains half a kilo cabbage, a more efficient alternative to salad. - Everything in the menu sounds fun and nice. I wish I have more stomachs. While oxtail and goulash are recommended by the menu and reviewers, I decided to try something I can’t make and more unique in this restaurant. (Those who got goulash as daily soup are lucky:) - Allocated to my own little corner with a view of the bar. Feeling cozy and safe. - Somehow the male manager and staff are all quite buffed but they are friendly people, despite much reticence and lack of English.

This is a very cozy and popular restaurant. We went for an early dinner without reservations. It was nearly empty when we arrived, but was packed by the time we left. They were even asking people if they would be willing to share their tables with other guests. I got the vegetable strudel, and nearly cried with joy by the amount of non-potato veggies that I got. The strudel was of course stuffed with vegetables, but the side salad was actually three different kinds of salad! A leafy green salad, a carrot salad, a coleslaw-like salad, and an amazing German potato salad. We also got the Salzburger Nockrel, which was enormous but very light. It's basically currant jam topped with meringue. If you intend to have this for dessert, order it with your main meal because it takes a long time to prepare. So delicious!

Visited today with my partner to celebrate our anniversary and we had the most incredible evening ever! Outstanding service, friendly team and most of all… delicious food! Beautiful rustic interior tells a lot of a history of the venue and each dish is a masterpiece. Lamb shank is an absolute must while visiting, highly advise to go for baked liver dumplings - Mozart’s favourite dish 🥹 If you fancy a digestive you must try the pine liquor which is a regional spirit and popular local drink. Great local beer selection! We came with no booking and we waited in a queue to be sat inside for no longer than 10 min, totally worth waiting even more! Fantastic experience and one of the best places in Salzburg! Thank you for looking after us, you made our night out really special ❤️

A little disappointed in the experience. Our family was looking forward to some authentic Austrian cuisine. We appreciate culture and customs but things felt a little off for how we were being treated. The appetizer we ordered wasn’t right but we didn’t complain and tried it, it was just caked in salt which made it completely unpalatable. The spritz was watered down and and Prosecco was flat and old (should have got a beer.) The food was ok. Lastly, My husband liked the mugs that the beer was served in asked if they sold them, to which they replied, “yes” and sold us two USED ceramic mugs at top dollar. I’m super disappointed and disheartened that was done to us when we were trying our best to experience and appreciate another culture.

This was our favorite restaurant during our stay. We ate here twice! The atmosphere is completely cozy and comfortable with some very high end food. The Veal schnitzel and goulash with pasta were outstanding. Perfectly seasoned and flavorful. The salad was amazing as well, with potato salad and kraut at the bottom. Loved the apple strudel. It was the best one we've had in our travels. Service from everyone working was phenomenal. A must visit restaurant when in Salzburg. Update: It was so good, we went for dinner the second night. Excellent food again. The bratwurst & pork roast were amazing. We did try the famous Salzburg dish Salzburger Nockerl and it was magical. Worth it. Too big for two of us for sure.

The foods are absolutely amazing! The cheese pasta was not at all what I expected. I thought it would be like a traditional macaroni and cheese, but it was surprisingly more like a crispy cheese chip in texture. The Schnitzel was also excellent. It didn't taste like typical deep-fried chicken, but was instead juicy and cheesy. The berry sauce added some nice sweet and sour layers that complemented the Schnitzel perfectly. The Ox tail was definitely the highlight for me. They must have cooked it for an exceptionally long time, because the meat was incredibly soft and juicy. The staff member, Sie, was a delight. He provided me with excellent recommendations for all of these wonderful dishes.
