My husband and I didn’t have a reservation, but found a table at around 4pm on a Friday. We sat down in the basement area, which had amazing atmosphere! We ordered goulash soup, typical Viennese sausage with horseradish and mustard, Wiener schnitzel, steak with onions and kaiserschmarrn for dessert. The goulash soup had a lot of vegetables and meat inside and wasn’t spiced and salted as much, which for me made it easier to enjoy. The sausage was interesting, as it was more finely grinded than I know. Big plus for fresh horseradish! The schnitzel was a bit thicker than I thought it’d be, but was very good, especially with lemon and the side I ordered - potato salad. The steak was amazing - so juicy! The onions were deep fried and pretty salty. The dish came with baked potatoes. The dessert - kaiserschmarrn, was huge but delicious. They were eggy chopped up pancakes, that also had a crisp from caramelised sugar. It came with warm plums and cherries. I also enjoyed a nice glass of non...

*CASH ONLY Are a tourist and looking for a place to eat local or native food? This is your jam! I was looking for a place to have lunch as I was hungry and I looked and looked. I knew that I did not want to eat american food but this one stood out and looked very family oriented and with local and traditional flavors. O walked in and everyone shares the table. So if you sit at a table with 4 to 6 chairs and there are 3 left, you can expect to be will be sharing the table at some point. I loved this place because a lot of locals go to it to have lunch. They have a lunch menu of the day but I wanted to have Wien schnitzel. Don’t be shocked if you are the inly tourist in the restaurant! The service was good and efficient but keep in mind that they only take CASH 💵! The ambience was good, sharing tables, family style. Everyone was very welcoming even when I was the only tourist. I highly recommend this space if you want to try very good...

This is a typical German-style restaurant or tavern in the heart of Vienna. The food what I had was a traditional Austrian menu. It was pretty much a bargain for 8 euros, compared to the prices around and it was delicious! Quite a hearty meal, I could barely finish it. Furthermore, the service was great, the waitress lady was lovely and helped me to choose a local beer. There were local folks playing a strange card game and I had a chat about the demonstration which was happening earlier that day. Moreover, I found the decoration to be friendly, cosy and welcoming rather than posh. It is a great stop before or after visiting the Rathaus and the museums which are nerby. I definitely...

Brilliant local pub-restaurant / Beisl. Brilliant local fare, authentic setting, excellent value. Check out the daily specials on their web site, like specialities from Mangalitza pork! The photo shows a classical rare old Viennese dish with brains and kidneys but there is plenty of choice also for less adventuring eaters and even vegetarians... (always a little tricky in Austria) The Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, and Gemischter Satz wines are from their own vineyards, and the Nußschnaps is also home made. In a nutshell, this is The Real McCoy. The only thing not to like is that they're closed on weekends...

They managed to seat our group of 7 with only a 30 minute prior reservation! This place was a lot less crowded and touristy than the other restaurants nearby, and the atmosphere was nice. In addition, the service was friendly and the food was delicious. There are a lot of options for schnitzel (big portions of it, too!), and the salad that it comes with has the traditional potato salad and cucumber salad too, which was a tasty bonus. We found the prices to be pretty good for what it was and the surrounding areas, but of course, still not crazy cheap or anything. Try the Hollerblütensaft! Sehr gut und lecker!!
