MATTEO homemade Pasta & Italian Tapas — Restaurant in Vienna

The best food I've eaten in Vienna, and that includes.some Michelin recommended places. Food is finally made with a lot of attention to details. Each of the dishes we tried was nothing left of perfect. The food is based on classic Italian cuisine but with a lot of twists, which makes it a grey dining experience. The service was very good and always with a smile. Matteo, the owner goes a great deal to make people happy and it shows that his food is maticulacely made, with great ingredients. The food is made with love and with zero compromises (Matteo told me that he imports the cream for the tiramisu from Italy because it's the best one). You must try the pistachio tiramisu. The giant vegan ravioli (don't be deterred by it being vegan) and the prosciutto ravioli, but I don't think you can go wrong with any dish. Prices are even very affordable. Perfect...

Complete disappointment. Low quality food and TINY portions. We were all hungry after having pasta + tiramisu. The carbonara was a disaster: TINY portion, 3-4 pieces of some lower-quality pancetta-like meat, no sauce on the pasta, it tasted like unsalted plain pasta and this for 16 EUR. The pasta was cold and sticky since there was no sauce. At the bottom there was some raw egg yolk which was supposed to be the sauce. But it was so little that the carbonara was just a plain pasta with no flavour at all. I think I have never eaten such a bad, tasteless carbonara. Even Vapiano is much better.

I don't understand the positive reviews. Either there was a different chef in the beginning or those reviewer have never eaten a good pasta and think...

Firstly, I do not think the operating hours are correct. It is said that it’s closed 3pm so we rushed like mad and there were still walkins after 3pm. So it’s not closed.

The waiter was very welcoming. However the food tasted horrible, in my opinion. We had ordered; Classic Bruschetta - it was hard and cold bread with massive tomatoes on it. Carbonara & another was a vegan pasta - it was ridiculously dry. The sauces were extreme bland & tasteless.

I have never ever tasted an Italian food as bad as this!!! Even back in my own homeland in SEA, the “instants” were better!

Do not recommend this place at any cost, therr are better food elsewhere in our 12days Vienna...
