“Why is my hollandaise sauce jiggling?” Where do I start.. we had a reservation but didn’t get our table until 20 min after standing in line. The table was dirty and we asked the waiter to clean it, which took him another 10 min to do. And when he left it was still covered in sugar and crumbs. Then it took another 45 min to get our food. I ordered the egg Benedict with hollandaise sauce. Only the English muffin was burned and the hollandaise sauce was not a sauce but a pudding that looked like scrambled eggs. (See photo) The crème brûlée I ordered (which should have the consistency my hollandaise sauce accidentally got) was like a dry cheesecake.
When I pointed it out, the waitress offered to put in a new order. But I didn’t feel (or had the time) to wait another 45 min for food. So I asked them to compensate me on the check. Which they refused to do. So zero service-minded people.
Of course, uneducated staff is usually a lack of good management. So I couldn’t get too upset with the staff on the floor. Clearly the place is poorly run by top management.
The ambiance inside is nice though. But I’m not going back. My apartment is equally well designed and I’d rather have my breakfast at home if I’m paying for it and can cook it better than the person I’m paying to do it.
Recommend you to go to their neighborhood competitor Ulrich - very nice place and well trained staff...

I booked a table for my birthday for a group of friends. After we arrived we realized that they had split us on different tables, even though I had called one month in advanced. They had another large group in the same room. This could easily have been changed by the staff by rearranging the tables in advanced, but the chef of service told us in a very rude way, that this was the seating available, and if we wanted it differently we should change it ourselves, which we did with the help of a nice waitress. The chef of service should be fired, zero customer oriented and extremely unfriendly. This really should not happen in a restaurant of this price range.
We did have a nice waitress that took our orders and was very accommodating afterwards.
The food, except for the topfen-nougat Knödel, is a disaster. I had ceviche, which neither looked or tasted like ceviche. It was dry fish with bread pieces. The aubergine with lentils was extremely dry as well. The food generally looked like it had been thrown on the plate in a hurry.
When my friend asked for a spoon for her soup, the waitress that brought the soup told her to look in the table, there should be a spoon somewhere 😳
In all, very expensive for bad service and terrible food. Beautiful...
Read moreAvoid this tourist trap! We booked 2 weeks in advance to be offeres a table squeezed under the staircase OR one facing the toilets. The tables are DIRTY and so is the clothing of the staff. The guy who checked our reservation and covid tests have definitely not washed his jeans for weeks. Btw, what management allows the staff members of a stylish place to wear light blue jeans? After we took our table, unimpressed by the first few minutes we ordered a drink and our breakfast. Now, out of about 10 breakfast options, that are actually cooked there, 3 were unavailable. At 10 am on their busiest day. Unbelievable, really. I could not get an egg benedict, because they ran out of hollandaise. I did not bother to ask if there was nobody that could just make some. After all we told them we were leaving and complained, we spoke with three different waiters - as soon as they got the imppression we did not like something, they dumped us - and the most junior person at least apologized. Interior is a complete mess, the place is dark and dirty, badly managed. Cakes came from the stairs that said "toilets".
Go to wirr next door, a much nicer place woth attentive staff and great brunch options for 2/3 of the price and...
