Last night, my friends and I enjoyed an unforgettable dinner at Mon Cher, a true standout in Vienna’s dining scene. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the elegant yet inviting atmosphere and the exceptionally friendly staff. Elvis, our waiter, was so welcoming and attentive that we joked we must have left Vienna-where service is rarely this warm!
The food was simply outstanding. the starters were pieces of art. My cacio e pepe was extraordinary: perfectly al dente pasta with a creamy, peppery sauce that transported me straight to Italy (and it had an egg on it never had that before) . The steak was also absolutely outstanding-cooked to perfection, soft, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Every dish at our table impressed with its quality and taste.
Adding to the experience, Mario Dervi, the young Head Chef from northern Italy, personally came to our table to greet us and share insights about the menu and his culinary inspirations. His passion and international experience shine through every bite, making the meal feel truly personal.
also the prices at Mon Cher are very reasonable considering the exceptional quality of the food and the prime location-just a few minutes’ walk from the Vienna...
Read moreThe restaurant is situated on the Opern Ring in Vienna, a nice and central location. It is also elegantly presented. The staff try to give a professional impression. The place played very loud music. Twice we had to request they lower the volume and then the live singer started. She sang nicely, however we did not go to a concert but to have a nice dinner with friends where we could catch up and talk. The menu is not big at all, so one would hope all 5 listed items would be available, however when I ordered the Canneloni I was told that it was not available. They offered another pasta dish and I accepted. The waiter then informed me that it could come with egg-white and caviar on top, however it was badly cooked with raw whole egg. When we ordered white wine we were then informed it was not yet cold and they brought an ice bucket to cool it. The appetizers were not that great either. The dessert however was quite good. This is a very pretentious and expensive restaurant, however it does not deliver on its allure. For a restaurant of this supposed calibre and very high prices, one should expect better. It was in fact a very disappointing evening. For the reasons outlined it is not...

Dining at Mon Cher in Vienna was one of the most uncomfortable and disappointing restaurant experiences we’ve ever had.
We were coerced into staying—seated without being informed the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes, then locked in by being served bottled water without consent. Once that bottle was opened, we were essentially trapped. The menu? Irrelevant. Only one dish was available, and we were told that with a shrug.
But the worst was yet to come. My wife’s mojito arrived after she had finished her meal. When we asked about the delay, the server (Iranian guy) became defensive and aggressive, escalating the situation instead of resolving it. We felt threatened, not welcomed—an utterly unacceptable atmosphere for any restaurant, let alone one pretending to offer fine dining.
The food was forgettable, the service was hostile, and the pricing was predatory. This place thrives on tourist turnover, not repeat business. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, stay far away...
