My last review was removed, which I’m unsure why because my review simply outlines my exact experience at this restaurant.

Me and my fiancé booked a reservation 1 month in advance and decided to travel specifically to Vienna from out of the country to visit this restaurant because of the beautiful architecture and its rich history. We can confidently not recommend this restaurant as this place wasted over 2.5 hours of our time and we are now down the street at an American fast food chain to get dinner.

Our experience: Upon arriving 5 minutes early, we were rudely informed there were no tables and were pointed to the door. We let the staff know we had a reservation, and were seated 10 minutes later. It took 45 minutes for our server to come and take our drink orders. One hour in, we received our bottle of wine and water. We then placed our appetizer order when our wine was served. Realizing at this point that things were moving slowly, we asked our server if we could place our main orders. He insisted that we take our time and enjoy our night, initiating that we place our main course order later.

After 20 minutes (1 hr 20 min total) we attempted to get his attention to place our order for our main course, but were unable to get his attention. An hour and 40 minutes into our initial seating, we received our appetizer (which was incorrect - was supposed to be 4 cheeses and we only received 3).

Two hours after we were seated we were finally able to get our servers attention and attempted to order our mains, which he responded with we only had an hour to finish.

After 20 minutes our waiter finally came back to notify us our order could not be filled because the kitchen could not make one of the dishes.

At this point it had been over two hours and all we had eaten was some thin slices of cheese. Needless to say we were starving and just wanted to leave and find somewhere to eat some actual food.

Two of the tables around us at this point also commented on how slow the service was, and expressed that they felt lucky to have gotten a meal at all.

After indicating we wanted to leave, we asked for the bill which included a bottle of water and a bottle of wine. We waited another 15 minutes before we could pay. Our appetizer ended up being compensated but it didn’t make up for the fact that we were there for almost 3 hours and did not receive a proper meal, and are now writing this review from a fast food joint down the street.

The only benefit this place has is the nice atmosphere. Overall, I’ve never been somewhere with worse serve and I am a frequent traveller.

TLDR: service is atrocious and you’re going to wait hours for a meal if you’re lucky enough to get one at all. Cannot comment on the...

THEY ARE RACIST. STAY AWAY.

EDIT: The reply from the business shows their poor way of dealing with these issues and confirms that it was not just a problem of the waiter.

The owner/manager is obviously misinformed or purposely lying about the facts of my complaint.

And just a quick look at other recent reviews confirms that the treatment that I received was not an isolated/exceptional case. I made a reservation in advance online and was ready to welcome my friend pleasantly who came to Vienna all the way. While there were plenty of available seats, the waiter gave us a terrible place that was closest to the entrance with dim light. Indeed, no other customers were around in such an isolated corner.

From the beginning, nothing made sense to me, and I noticed that something was wrong. I asked him why he could not let us choose other options. He just answered that other seats are all booked.

Meanwhile, many new customers came in, and the waiter escorted them further into the shop where you can enjoy better vives.

Some of them didn't even have a reservation but made it successfully. I was very surprised and stood up to check around inside the restaurant.

As he noticed my behavior, the waiter finally came again and told me that I could also sit next to my original table. That is at least not up front to the entrance but still one of the worst options. I couldn't understand why he didn't let us walk into the wider side of the restaurant and choose better seats like other customers.

Furthermore, this turned out that he actually lied to us when he said all the other seats are fully booked. Unfortunately we decided to leave before ordering.

Now, only the logic that I could assume from this waiter's attitude was just because we are not white.

We were left alone in the restaurant, almost like being under quarantine from other white customers. I needed some moments to accept that this is still happening in 21st century.

I have lived in Vienna for a year and never experienced such terrible racism until tonight. For those who support diversity and fairness, I highly recommend staying away from this toxic...

We saved this from one of the travel vlogs we watched on you tube. Definitely worthwhile.

Enter down a small walkway, into another door leading to the cellar steps into this most beautiful and unique restaurant under the streets of Vienna.

The staff are fast and welcoming speaking a number of languages when watching them at work.

The menu is extensive but still focused on the traditional Austrian feasts Vienna is known for.

We ordered the 12A platter and the Schnitzel with a serve of the garlic toasts (lucky we only ordered this as it was massive) for the four of us.

Nothing else can say just how yum the meals were. The platter is ideale for those unsure or want to try pretty much all the menu on one plate being, dumplings, roast pork, the silverside and black pudding, sitting on a bed of sauerkraut and drizzled with a beautiful light bier gravy that matched.

The Schnitzel was large and delicious being honestly the best I’ve eaten. Crumbed to perfection, tender yet moist (not a word a favour but suitable for this event). Drizzle it with the lemon provided and/or the berry jam and just amplify the flavour!

Drinks we had the grape juice with spritz, orange juice with spritz, the mulled wine and the grape wine. All massive serves and warms you up well for the December winter.

Big thank you to the two waiters running around this busy restaurant. A unique location for a great traditional meal!

Highly recommended for the food...

Traditional viennese cuisine restaurant in a very central location, near Stephansplatz. The place is located below ground, has many levels and is very spacious and accommodating, with numerous tables available even without prior reservation. Unique, warm and cozy aesthetic, with thematical celar decoration and vibe, with live music setting the atmosphere. Very friendly, polite and helpful staff, excellent customer service, great variety in the menu, including appetizers, entrees and side traditional viennese dishes and detailed description of the options available. Quick preparation of orders, care in the making, top quality ingredients, mouthwatering plates and exquisite flavors. The portions were quite large and filling as well. The traditional Wiener Schnitzel (Veal) was exquisite, tender and flavourful, nicely seasoned perfectly fried with a crispy golden breading. Quite large as a portion and filling, without it being overly heavy. The Pork Schnitzel was also excellent. As for the sides, both the chips and the potato salad we chose to accompany our main dished were great. All in all, our visit was remarkable both in terms of taste but also as far the whole dining experience is concerned. We definitely recommend this place for a traditional viennese dinner especially if you want to combine experiencing a unique atmosphere inspired by authentic viennese culture and dining with greatly executed traditional viennese dishes.
