We dined at Bimini Road after exploring some of the other dining options at the Atlantis Resort. We enjoyed it the first time so much that we decided to come back a second time, which unfortunately did not live up to our first experience.
Through both dining experiences we ordered a variety of drinks, appetizers, and entrees.
The frozen mint lemonade was my favorite drink. It was sweet and the diced mint added a wonderful refreshing note. The non-alcoholic watermelon mojito was unfortunately a flop. The drink tasted heavily of syrup and was too sweet for my taste. Their other alcoholic drinks like the pineapple mojito were tasty.
For appetizers we ordered the rum cured salmon, tuna and watermelon, and conch chowder. The salmon and tuna tasted fresh and were very refreshing. The chowder was thinner than traditional clam chowder but was still very tasty. It also came with a slightly sweet baked muffin roll that paired well when dipped in the chowder.
For entrees we ordered the steak, jerk chicken, lobster tails, salmon, Caesar salad with a side of jerk chicken, and tropical tomato & mozzarella salad. The steak was very juicy the first time, but was slightly overcooked the second time around. The jerk chicken entrée was a whole half jerked chicken and was moist, juicy, and delicious. The lobster tails were roughly 6oz portions, served with a side of butter, and best enjoyed blackened (instead of grilled). The tropical tomato & mozzarella salad was more like a few slices of tomato and mozzarella topped with a pineapple pico de gallo. It wasn't quite what we were expecting, but was still decent. The Caesar salad was tasty, though nothing special. The side of jerk chicken, however, more closely resembled grilled diced chicken tossed in a jerk sauce. I would highly recommend avoiding the side of jerk chicken with any salad or entrée.
Overall, the food at Bimini Road was fairly decent with a few dishes shining while some others flopped. The prices were fairly high considering the fact the restaurant was located in the middle of the Atlantis' Marina Village. If you're looking for a nicer restaurant for dinner, I would recommend giving Bimini...
Read more3.5 stars-a reasonably tasty meal here, with the caveat that it is a poor value for the cost in my opinion. Extra half star for the staff (Tiffany) as they accommodated an issue with a dish without any difficulty. We never actually entered the building as we were able to sit at a patio table near the live band (a bit loud). The menu skews heavily towards Bahamian cuisine-fish, conch, jerk spice, fruits, etc. Not much exciting when it comes to side dishes. Of course, a full bar. We chose two drinks today, the Bahama Mama (rum punch $14) and an alcohol-free Tropical Delight ($9) which was a nice combo of fruit juices and ginger beer. I am a big fan of Conch Fritters ($14) so that was our beginning of the meal order. They came piping hot with a nice flavor profile, but the amount of conch seemed very small. Entrée choices today were the Junkanoo Salad ($20) and a Caesar Salad with Shrimp added ($16 + $12). The Caesar was as expected with the shrimp tasting fresh. The Junkanoo Salad is made up of fresh conch, bell peppers, tomatoes, pineapple, and mangoes combined with native citrus juices. The salad looked great-fresh and colorful. Unfortunately, it also includes something-either chopped jalapenos or spicing in the dressing-that made it inedible for me. I admit I am 100% wimp when it comes to this type of spicing but it is truly bad management that whatever caused this isn’t listed on the menu. I made this difficulty known to our server and she immediately asked if they could provide me with something different. Wanting to just get something quick and easy, I asked for a Caesar Salad, which came quickly and was pretty solid. But it was a bit of a surprise (maybe it shouldn’t have been) that I was charged for the dish I was unable to eat. I chose not to make it an issue at checkout because they were so accommodating regarding the change. While we felt sated after our meal, the prices including the 15% mandatory gratuity and the 10% VAT brought the meal cost to $106! Very difficult to justify with the simplicity...
Read moreWe walked down from Atlantis on our last night to have a nice Bahamian meal before we left. Our server just didn't listen or forgot everything as soon as he walked away. We ordered tap water and 8 min later he showed up with bottled water. He took it back and got us what we ordered, so that was good. Then we ordered everything to share and we told him that before we ordered. We ordered land and sea specifically telling him the steak temperature for me and then having my husband chose the lobster blackened or plain, explaining the I dont eat seafood. The dinner showed up land and sea for me and a full lobster for my husband. When we explained to the server that brought it that we didn't order that, she took it back, nicely. Then told our server who came over to talk to us about it and seemed upset with us. We shared the mac n cheese and rice with peas since those side are Bahamian. Very room temp on both. Nothing was hot, not our main or the sides. When I asked for salt as there were none on the table, they had to go scoop some in a cup for me. Apparently they got shakers but they rusted and just decided not to put anything out. That was odd. The bill came to us on the tablet with no gratuity, so we asked and the service fee was the gratuity instead. There was no vat fee like every other place. Weird. We had our most expensive meal, on our last night at the resort and left seriously...
