The tropical conch salad is delicious! The serving was huge! You can see them making it right in front of you.
We also tried the conch fritters which had good flavor and an ok amount of conch in them, but they could have used a bit more compared to the breading.
We also got the cracked conch which was served with hand cut fries. The conch was really good! The fries were not as crispy as I prefer, but I was there for the conch anyways so it was fine.
The service was friendly, but it is a little bit slow. We were the first 2 people in the restaurant for the day and it took over an hour for the 3 menu items to be served one after the other. We were splitting them all so it worked out fine for us that the meal was not delivered all at once, but just be aware that it’s not super fast dining and could be slower depending on the size of the crowd.
The atmosphere is ok, it’s just a small place with several tables. The best spot is all the way in the back by the water so you can see fish and eagle rays swimming around!
It’s about a 30 minute walk from the port and the road has spots where the sidewalk ends and you’ll have to cross to the other side - if it rains there are tons of potholes and deep areas that accumulate water and make for an interesting walk lol, but it is walkable (with kids I might consider a cab). It’s about 1.2 miles from the port and we got a cab there - the guy charged us $20 - and we walked back, stopping at the rum cake factory on the way.
The bathroom is a public bathroom shaded by everyone on that strip of road (many other seafood joints) it’s all the way at the end of the road, a blue building on the left side as you walk down the road.
With all due respect, the area seems a bit rough, but we didn’t experience any issues with anyone...
Read moreWe were staying at the Atlantis, and decided to venture out to try more authentic Bahamian food at a place where the prices weren’t so ridiculous at the Atlantis. This was a 15-20 minute walk right over the outgoing bridge from the resort, and right along the water. The area is a little more sketchier than the resort property, but we felt safe eating there, as there were many other families eating there, as well as some locals. We ordered the Conch Salad for the first time anywhere, and instead of it being a leafy green salad with conch on it which we envisioned it being, it was more like ceviche. It was oh-so-good! We also tried the fried snapper (which came with classic Bahamian peas and rice), which is fried whole fish with the price based on the size. Also very good. Lastly we tried the baked macaroni, which was really good too. We will definitely walk over there again before we go home. Also, there is a very sweet waitress named Sabrina who recommended some of the dishes, and loved having her serve us. Try this place! You won’t be disappointed! Also, our bill only came to $51, and two of us we...
Read moreThis was easily one of our best meals on the island. We got the tropical conch salad, cracked conch, and grilled lobster/grouper - the total came out to about $60 and this was enough food for 4 people.
Mckenzie was very welcoming and great to talk to while we waited for our food - you get to watch him prepare your conch salad right in front of you.
The plantains and the peas n rice were the best we've had on the island so far - we've tried 3 other places, and this beat them all. The peas and rice had fantastic seasoning and the plantains were the sweetest we've had so far (the other plantains we've had so far didn't seem ripe enough).
The tropical conch was awesome - ties with Dinos for first place.
The cracked Conch was tasty - we didn't eat it on the spot, so it might have have lost a bit of its crunch while we were driving, so if you get this, eat it asap!
The grilled lobster and grouper had wonderful flavor, but part of me wishes I had gotten them fried.
This place takes credit cards and has a decent view of the harbor.
Definitely can't go wrong...
