Viola's bar and grill — Restaurant in New Providence

Saw 4 stars and thought we would give it a try. Wow was this an awful experience. Showed up without a reservation and despite almost every table being open, we were told to patiently wait to see if they could squeeze us in. When we left later, there were still tables open.

Waiter came after about 10 minutes to take a drink order and apparently they were out of all frozen drinks. Okay, we will make do.

Another 10 minutes passed and waiter comes back without drinks and asks for our order. My son wanted a pizza. ‘Sorry, we are out of all pizzas.’ My other son and I wanted the grouper. ‘Sorry, we are out of all grouper.’ (He also shared they were out of conch salad as well) My wife asked if instead of shrimp, she could have salmon in a pasta dish because of a dietary restriction at which point he said we could an extra $15 to add a piece of salmon and that they would just not put shrimp on it.

My son and my wife both got fish and chips instead which came out soggy with a fish textured like canned tuna. My other son and I got snapper instead of the grouper that was perfectly fine taste wise but filled with pin bones that made it difficult for my son to eat it. The sides, however, consisted of an almost raw baked potato with what could be described as Velveeta cheese sauce and raw, unseasoned mixed veggies.

All of this was for a price that was barely below one of the famous chef restaurants at Atlantis. To put a stamp on it, we were seated next to a gentleman that decided chain smoking 20 cigarettes would be a pleasure for all the guests. Horrible experience and do...

I wish I was about to say good things about this place.

I'll start with Franklin who was helping us with our meal. He was kind, respectful, and friendly. This review is not about him because he was great.

The food was not very good and ended up giving me stomach issues. I had the burger with the egg on it, I forgot the name of it, but it was recommended. I was only able to eat half of it as it was big. It gave me stomach issues the next morning. I ended up cooking the rest of the burger with some eggs in the morning and the same thing not long after, so that helped narrow down the culprit. Stomach issues subsided after it was through my system.

Also, when we went it was not that busy but the wait for our meal was L O N G !!

2 burgers and a salad took over 1 hour and 30 minutes to get. We were there the better part of 2 hours in total. The salad wasn't even brought out until about 5-10 minutes after the burgers did. We spent a lot of time waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

This paired with something being off in the burger that I had made it an experience that I would not return to. The wait was way too long, and the food was not very good.

Again, Franklin was great and no complaints to him as he can't control the kitchen. Sorry but we can't recommend this place based 9n...

This is my first time out of the country and we stayed right next to Viola's. As we walked to our room the employees of Viola's greeted us and made us feel welcomed. We decided since we had been on airplanes all day to eat at Viola's because why not its right by the room. Once again we got greeted and felt welcomed. Since this was the first place we have tried on the island it set the bar for everything else we would try and trust me we tried a few other places.The food and drinks were amazing and the best I say we had . We have a group of 3 at all times and we visted this place almost every night. We didn't always eat there but we enjoyed the drinks as well. The owner and staff were very welcoming and made us feel like home no matter if we were eating there or just passing by. 10 out of 10 recommend. I would eat here any day. P.s. this is our last night here and we came to enjoy Viola's one last time before we leave and we got to watch our chicago bears play and during the week we got to watch wrestling and that made me so happy. The owner has been amazing and we got free shots on him. This place has been amazing and the owner and staff have been wonderful and if i owned or ran a restaurant I would want it to be ran just like this and have my staff just as amazing and nice and the...
