Restaurant’s Name: Cielo Rooftop Banani

Cielo is a Spanish word which means sky/heaven & as per its name. The Cielo restaurant has opened several rooftop restaurants in different areas of Dhaka. It has both indoor & outdoor sitting arrangements & is a perfect place for special events. They even arrange candle light dinners. Today I’ll be reviewing the one in Banani in which i was invited recently. I ordered:

STARTER:

Chicken and apple salad- 530tk It had apple, lettuce, croutons, chicken, freshly crushed black pepper, mayo, etc. Everything was fresh & tasted superb & this was indeed one of my most fav items.

SOUPS: Seafood soup- 480tk It had ample amount of mushroom, shrimp and calamari. The taste was pretty good but I loved the latter better.

Tom yum soup- 450tk I am a huge tom yum soup fan, in addition i love tom yum flavor in everything. Even while typing, I am craving for it. It was loaded with mushroom, chicken & prawn. The balance of saltiness, tanginess & spiciness as well as the aroma of it will make this soup your favorite one.

MAINS: Seafood rice- 480tk Loved this rice. It had good amount of prawn & calamari in it. The portion is good and enough for 2.

Spicy chicken ginger rice- 450tk The ginger flavor was too strong for me. I loved the seafood one more..

Siracha honey chicken- 480tk This was extremely sweet as per my tastebud. I didn’t like it at all.

Spicy beef curry- 650tk This was a bit sweet rather than spicy. I won’t say this is the best item but it’s not bad either. I liked the prawn more.

Spicy prawn dip- 650tk I have weakness for prawn so wherever i see prawn, that will surely be my fav dish. The size of the prawns were decent & overall is a good curry. This wasn’t that spicy but rather had a sweet flavor.

Alfredo chicken pizza- 990tk It’s a simple pizza & with lots of cheese, mushroom & chicken. Its not spicy at all & this is a perfect choice if you cant eat spicy food or if you have kids accompanying you. I personally sprinkled a bit of chilli flakes to enhance the taste of it.

DESSERT:

Mango cheesecake- 325tk This is one of their best items. It was very smooth & wasn’t too sweet rather it had a bit of sourness to it which I really enjoyed.

Overall I really loved the ambience, service & food. I will surely revisit this restaurant.

Lovely Place for a Chill Hangout – Good Food, Great View & Perfect for Family or Friends

I recently visited this place with my family, and honestly, it turned out to be such a nice spot for a casual hangout. The vibe is really warm and welcoming — not too loud, not too fancy — just the right balance where you can relax and enjoy your time.

We went there during the evening, and the rooftop seating was a big plus. There’s a really nice open-air setup with a view of the surrounding area, and it just feels peaceful. Perfect for catching a little breeze while having some good food. If you’re someone who enjoys a cozy, open space with a little bit of a view, you’ll like it here.

The food didn’t disappoint either. We tried a few items, but the fish platter really stood out. It was fresh, crispy, and flavorful — nicely seasoned without being too spicy, so everyone in the family could enjoy it, even the kids. They gave good portions too, enough to fill you up without needing extra sides.

Speaking of kids — mine had a great time. The place is kid-friendly, and the atmosphere isn’t stiff or boring, so they were comfortable and happy. That’s always a win in my book.

I also went back again during Ramadan with a group of friends for an iftar party, and the experience was just as good. They had 4 different iftar platter options, ranging roughly from 700 to 1500 taka per person, depending on what’s included. The food came on time, and everything was fresh — from the dates and drinks to the kebabs and fruits. It felt homely but still restaurant-quality, you know?

The service was something I really appreciated. The staff were polite, quick to respond, and you could tell they were trying their best to make sure everyone was comfortable — especially impressive during a busy iftar rush. That kind of hospitality always makes a place more memorable.

To sum it up, it’s a great spot whether you’re planning a family dinner, a friendly meetup, or a simple iftar gathering. The view, the food, and the overall experience were all solid. And for what they offer, I think the prices are pretty fair too.

Seafood Platter- The Grilled Koral is the best part of this platter. It’s fresh, perfectly cooked, fleshy, smoky flavours with slight sweetness from bbq sauce. Bar-b-q Tuna was on the opposite spectrum, overdone & dry. Dory fillet fry melted in my mouth, unlike the koral flavours in this was mild with slight sweetness. Grilled calamari was super soft and delicious. Liked the sautéed vegetables but didn’t try the fried rice but I feel the portions for sides should be increased as this platter is for 3-4 people and it wasn’t equivalent with the mains. In addition, it came with ketchup, sweet chilli sauce & lemon dip. Lemon dip was good and complimented the platter but they should consider eliminating the other two & adding tartare sauce. Fried Calamari- Super soft & delicious squid rings covered with well seasoned, crunchy breadcrumb batter, comes with fries & tartare sauce. Highly recommended! Price- BDT 750

Cielo Special Pizza 16”- The pizza had thin crust with heavy toppings like chicken, beef, black olives, capsicum, mushroom, cheese seasoned with oregano. But it was slightly sweet, the cheese seems to be the reason behind this. They should switch to a different cheese option because that bothered me. Price- BDT 1450

Pasta Lasagna- This is a fusion lasagna baked on a sizzling plate which grabbed my attention but I was underwhelmed by this dish as the beef filling wasn’t minced beef, they used chopped beef and the sweetness from melted cheese layer was overpowering. Price- BDT 550

Blue Ocean- Super refreshing, citrusy beverage that tastes very similar to lolly popsicles. Loved it! Price- BDT 210

Blueberry Chiller- This is a blueberry shake with whipped cream and blueberry compote. The sweetness is mild but blueberry flavour is prominent. Recommended. Price- BDT 350
