An Exceptional Dining Experience at Comme Chez Soi Dining at Comme Chez Soi was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. As one of Brussels' most prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants, it truly lives up to its reputation. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere that makes you feel as though you’ve entered a culinary sanctuary. The service was impeccable—attentive, knowledgeable, and professional without being overly formal. Our waiter took the time to explain every dish in detail, and the wine pairings were thoughtfully chosen to complement each course. The tasting menu was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a work of art, with bold flavors, exquisite textures, and innovative combinations. Highlights included the delicate lobster ravioli, which was rich and buttery, and the duck breast, which was perfectly cooked and paired with a subtly sweet sauce. The presentation of each course was stunning, showcasing the artistry and precision that goes into every dish. The wine list was extensive, with some truly exceptional selections that enhanced the overall experience. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the meal, and you can tell that the chefs are passionate about their craft. While the price is on the higher end, the quality of the food, the service, and the ambiance make it well worth the splurge. If you’re looking for an unforgettable, fine dining experience in Brussels, Comme Chez Soi is the place to be. I highly recommend it for anyone celebrating a special occasion or simply wanting to indulge in world-class cuisine. I can’t wait to return!

Overall it was a disappointing experience due to getting I’ll after our visit. Last week we arrived for lunch to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We took the 3 course lunch, along with the recommended wine selection, and overall had a wonderful experience at restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It seemed to be one of the best Michelin star restaurants I’ve been to. Unfortunately, about 1.5 hours after our visit, I started to feel sick. I have spent the rest of the afternoon and evening (until late last night) throwing up all the wonderful food :( Luckily my friend only had bad tummy ace and was not sick, but our last night in Brussels was ruined. Since I just had a piece of toast with my coffee for breakfast, the only option is that one of the ingredients was bad. I guess it can happen anywhere, but I honestly didn’t expect it to happen in a 2 star Michelin star restaurant. We came over the following morning to share our experience, and let you know about what happened. I must admit we were surprised by the reaction we had received. Denial and defense instead of emphatic or apologetic. I tried to send an email but this too was very apathetic and suggested I may have had an allergic effect (which does not explain my friend’s tummy ache…). Personally, I would recommend trying one of the other wonderful restaurants in the city.

Legendary since 1926, this restaurant is a reference for foodies. Nearly every Belgian citizen knows "Comme Chez Soi" by reputation, and I hope you will enjoy the experience of dining here at least twice in your life. The dishes are exceptional, the cuisine is a welcome mixture of tradition and experiment, the staff and the owners are very friendly. One feels "chez soi" (at home) indeed. For a lively experience, book a table with a view of the kitchen. The quality of the wine cellar defies description. The cook and his team know their trade exceptionally well and they meet the highest demands. The fact that places likes this - I would like to call them "Institutions" - continue to exist in a world of lowering standards (in terms of quality, reliability, aesthetic and culinary pleasure, et cetera) is very reassuring and, indeed, hopeful. For nearly 100 years, Comme Chez Soi continues to set an example for all of us to follow. With talent, inspiration, dedication and hard work it is indeed possible to achieve extraordinary results. I had the good fortune of celebrating my 50th birthday at Comme Chez Soi, and I shall continue to refuse to age such that I can go back every year to renew this magnificent experience.

What a conceit. It began with a head waiter with whom one at our table of 8 must have had a bad experience in a prior life as this man was a horror. He began by paying no attention to us and then was aggressive and argumentative.

We were seated in "the kitchen" which would have been fine but for one of the cooks who, every 15 minutes, had to whisk something in a metal bowl for a very long time and make a terrible noise. This was annoying. You'd be better off in the quite beautiful Art Nouveau dining room.

We couldn't get a wine list but immediately after we placed our order, our head waiter came with dessert menus. One of our group asked how he would know how he felt about dessert before he ate dinner. RESPONSE: "then you'll just have to wait" and flounced off.

That was the tone of what was supposed to be a terrific evening.

Another of our group summed it up this way......."terrible service, limited menu, very expensive and a wine list with outrageous prices".

Four of us ordered duck. 2 of us shared a medium rare duck that was served beautifully but was hard to chew. When we were finished, our waiter returned with a second helping that he threw on our plates. 2 of us shared a more well done duck that came under-cooked. Our waiter, unhappily, brought it back to the kitchen where someone must have seared the slices for a minute. Both reported that it wasn't to their liking.

We left before dessert and coffee as we were all disappointed.......... and for 800 euros, why be disappointed and angry. We wound up in the lobby of our hotel having espresso before going to bed.

Having read a dozen reviews of this restaurant, I realize that our experience was out of profile. Hopefully, management will read this review and figure out what happened to us. Clearly, it's not the experience they set out to produce. What a shame. So far, this is the only time we've encountered "attitude" in Brussels.......and we've been here almost a week and we've eaten in terrific restaurants as you can tell if you...

Dining at Comme Chez Soi is not just a meal; it is an unforgettable gastronomic journey that defines excellence in haute cuisine. From the moment I stepped into this legendary establishment, I was captivated by its refined ambiance, a seamless blend of timeless elegance and welcoming warmth. The intimate setting, adorned with exquisite Art Nouveau decor, sets the perfect stage for an extraordinary dining experience.

The service was nothing short of impeccable—every member of the staff exuded professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine passion for fine dining. The sommelier’s expertise in wine pairings was truly remarkable, enhancing each dish with selections that complemented the flavors to perfection.

As for the cuisine, it was simply sublime. Each dish was a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with the finest ingredients and an unparalleled attention to detail. The flavors were balanced, sophisticated, and deeply memorable. From the delicate amuse-bouche to the breathtakingly exquisite main courses, every bite was an explosion of taste and texture. The seafood was exceptionally fresh, and the sauces were complex yet harmonious, showcasing the chef’s immense talent.

The signature dishes, particularly the legendary lobster bisque and the perfectly executed filet of sole, were absolute standouts. Every plate was a testament to tradition and innovation coexisting in perfect harmony. The dessert selection was equally astonishing—delicate, flavorful, and presented like works of art.

Comme Chez Soi is not just a restaurant; it is an institution that upholds the highest standards of culinary artistry. It is no wonder that it has retained its status as one of Brussels’ finest dining establishments for nearly a century. I wholeheartedly recommend it to those who appreciate the pinnacle of gourmet excellence. This is fine dining at its most exquisite—an experience that lingers in your memory long after...
