Be aware when booking this place!!!! I booked this venue one week in advance for my partners birthday. I even told them upon booking that it was a special occasion. When we arrived the host told us to be seated on 2 bar stools at the service table! This table was full of tuppaware and very hot as the service oven was there too. We had to sit down shoulder to shoulder with the heat in our face, on a crammed table and with staff who didn't seem to care. I told them I was not happy with this seating and their reply was that many people find it a treat to sit there, implying we should be grateful. This was especially frustrating as they didn't seem to acknowledge our dissatisfaction, infact no one came to offer taking our jackets (even though we had stools to sit on). The food was OK, but nothing out of this word. Presentation of plates was decent (except for some cracked plates) but the flavour was rather bland and boring. 3/4 of the way through the dinner they offered us to change table. At this point I was drenched in sweat and my neck hurting from gazing to the left in order to converse with my partner. When we came to leave only the chef offered her sympathy, no one from service apologised. To be honest I was expecting at minimum a complimentary liquor or dessert to show they care, but nothing. Not even the water that I needed to replace the bucket of sweat I lost was compensated. Feels like this place is run by people who don't really care about customer experience....
Read moreThe food was good, and minimalist- in both preparation and quantity. IMHO overpriced (excessively) for the quantity, for the service (food served and not explained/described- or even named, and to be honest- the “€3 per glass of water but free refills all night long” was over the top. I felt completely taken/ripped off. Suggest servers step up their game- for such his prices, customers have expectations of a level of service- (ie describe each and every dish). This restaurant supposedly prides itself on locally sourced ingredients- but nothing was presented w information about ingredients/origin. Perhaps it’s because I don’t speak the local language.(?) Still I wish they’d explained items in the local language. When asked what mushrooms I was served the server told me he "didn’t know--it changes." As if he couldn’t be bothered to know. (Does the chef not tell the servers each day what the mushrooms are?) So in the end the restaurant felt overpriced and the experience wasn't meh. 3euro/glass for tap water? Seriously guys? I travel extensively and have never seen that. The food was good and fresh. The service was meh/lazy. TBH, I was disappointed and would recommend friends to find a...
Read moreThis is a beautiful restaurant with so much potential. We loved the freshness of the ingredients, their approach to food, and the dessert. However for the rest, perhaps we caught them on a bad day, as it was quite disappointing - especially for the high prices. First of all, after we were seated, we were not acknowledged for a full 10 minutes. It might not sound long, but when you're sat waiting, it's quite a long time to not even get a menu or a glass of water. Then, the food always seemed to be lacking a star quality. Key ingredients (like the white curry for the burnt gherkins) could not be tasted at all. Certain things, like the croquettes, were very salty. The sauce for the mushrooms had very little taste. Every savoury dish that we ordered seemed like it was missing something to elevate it. To add to this, I had stated at the time of booking that we were celebrating my partner's birthday. They did not even acknowledge the birthday. It's the first time I have experienced a restaurant of this price/caliber not doing anything to acknowledge a birthday. I would probably go back if it were half the price, but for these prices, you expect a bit of...
