Great location right at the Grand Place square...

Lovely place, in a great location and with generous outdoor seating. The ambiance was like you stepping into medieval times. They have a nice open fireplace and fantastic scenery. We got the table after some time. Though we wanted to sit outside, but it was raining.

We ordered Jupiler beer ( 330 & 550 ML), Hoegaarden Rosee, Chimay Blanche, Gauffre Roy, Portion De Frites and I don’t know the name of the rest. In simple English, we ordered 2 beer, some fish with onion rings, Ice cream over Waffle, Famous Belgium fries. Fries were okay, not that famous taste: P I liked my Jupiler beer. Taste-wise, it was not that bad. Moreover, we enjoyed our time together.

Oh, I almost forgot, I had to mention the service. Though I did not catch the waiter's name but he was not good at what he was doing. I don’t care if you have to see all the tables yourself, but don’t talk rudely. I was meeting with my friends after a very long time. 2 of them came from Amsterdam and rest came from another part of Belgium and we all met here. All I was asking the waiter to take a snap and I did ask 3 times. All I got was a rude answer, “can’t you see I am buys OR I will come to you when I will finish". Not cool, and that too when he added 4 euro tip himself at the end of the bill.

Tip for Men - checkout there men's bathroom....

It’s a perfect place but the waiting staff (I’m taking about one guy but rest wasn’t helpful either) is the worst I have ever encountered. This is my first bad review I have ever made, the reason why is because I have never been treated like that in a restaurant in my life... we waited for the waiter to come around 15-20min (I know that’s not to bad at all) when he came we were placing the order when suddenly he start screaming when we wanted crepes he said something about time 20min 30min 1hr (I assume he was saying waiting time for food or he meant that we taking order to long... I don’t really know) and before we finished saying what we would like to have he turned around totally ignored us and went to another table... I stood up and went to him to tell him we didn’t finished order and he even didn’t look at me he ignored me went pass me to serve other people... I said that’s very rude (out loud) he just run further away and other waiter told me as (I’m assuming) explanation was “he is old”... I have never ever in my life was treated worst in any of restaurants around the world (and I travel a lot) this is the place I will never come back in my life time and I suggest to avoid it for other people because no one deserve to be treated like that... just so you know it was me and my girlfriend who is pregnant and was starving at...

Nestled in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Grand-Place, "Le Roy d'Espagne" is a beautiful tapestry of history and culture. The building's roots trace back to the 17th century, serving as the original home for the Bakers' Guild of Brussels. The ornate Baroque architecture, complete with golden details and statues, speaks volumes of its historical significance. As you enter, the statue of Charles II, in whose honor the place was named "The King of Spain", greets you.

The interiors beautifully echo its rich past, with decor and designs reminiscent of Brussels' bygone era. Not to mention, its terrace offers one of the most enchanting views of the Grand-Place, a treat especially on a pleasant day.

As for the culinary experience, while the regular fare like burgers and pastas were just passable, the renowned Moules-frites stood out and lived up to its reputation. A delectable dive into Belgian tradition.

For those looking to immerse themselves in the authentic Brussels atmosphere, Le Roy d'Espagne offers a mixed bag. While its cultural and historical significance is undeniable, the food might leave some wanting more. Worth a visit for the ambiance and the Moules-frites, but manage your expectations on the...

One of the best restaurants in Brussels! Incredible service and food with views that cannot be beat! The beef stew, Caesar salad, and bitterballen and great choices. For a dessert waffle, I would look elsewhere. You definitely pay tourist prices but if you want fantastic food and great service in the most beautiful location in Brussels, it’s worth it!
