Kaiseki has decent Japanese food for Sucre and Bolivia. But if you're going to claim to offer another culture's cuisine, please take care with the quality and preparation. We visited this "sushi" restaurant on our first night in Sucre. The service was fine. However, the staff only speaks Spanish, which is fine in Bolivia. But certainly, Spanish is not the only language spoken in sushi restaurants. And not all tourists can speak Spanish. This is probably why so many reviews for this restaurant had misunderstandings for their orders. But we ordered our food without any issues. The sushi was mediocre at best, and the ramen was just fine, but the noodles were not authentic for Japanese ramen. We ordered one tempura roll and salmon roll with picante mayonnaise. I recommend avoiding both of these sushi rolls. The taste was uninspired and quite heavy on the carbs for sushi. And this restaurant needs to know that real Japanese restaurants DO NOT charge for extra wasabi and ginger! Unlimited amounts of both are included with dinner! The fish is fresh and the rice is really excellent quality. When you think of Bolivia, Sushi is not the first thing that comes to mind, but this place is really good by any standards. Additionally, the owners are really nice, my wife left her purse at the restaurant the night before (without realizing it) and while we were walking around Sucre the next day, the owner came running up to us asking if she left her purse there. We were so lucky because we were flying out that evening, the restaurant was closed but the owners walked with us and opened the restaurant to get her purse back. I've never seen such good service before and the food by itself is 5 stars! A hidden gem in Sucre, you...
Read moreWent for a dinner with my partner there. I'm a vegetarian and he is a vegan.
We had meat in our vegan gyoza! :(
My partner ordered a vegan dish and got a vegetarian option with cheese instead. We let the restaurant know that we actually wanted a vegan option and they said that the waiter wrote it down as vegetarian and that if we want vegan, we can order another dish and they will charge us for both... This wasn't very customer friendly to charge us for something we didn't order. We paid for the dish we didn't eat and left and will...
