Casa das Encrencas...

Went for dinner expecting pastéis de nata but got a masterclass in waiting instead. With one overwhelmed waitress juggling the entire restaurant, ordering took 20 minutes, drinks another 20, and food came after we'd practically aged like good vinho do Porto.

The kitchen's freezer was working overtime—though honestly, the food tasted fresh enough that we wouldn't have known without the behind-the-scenes view. But even decent Portuguese comfort food can't salvage an hour-plus dining marathon.

The real coup de grâce? A bathroom situation that would make even the bravest desbravador retreat, paired with covers of American hits so butchered they made us saudoso for the originals.

Casa das Natas has potential, but right now it's serving more frustration than satisfaction. Talvez next time hire more than two people, né?

Vai com paciência or vai...

A good friend and I had a hankering for a Tarte de Natas and with Brazils Portuguese heritage we knew there was going to be some good ones out there in Rio. We didn't realise just how good it could get. Having gone in to have a Tarte each, we ended up having to go and buy some playing cards to give us an excuse to sit in there longer to try more...

Four Tarte, two sandwiches and a plate of duck rice between the two of us. Casa das Natas does more that just a great Tarte. The exceptional food was paired with service alike. Bernado was our man it was impressive that somehow he was more enthusiastic about the food than we were. Cannot recommend more. I...

The Nata I thought was tasty but the girl that's working there with the glasses on ruins the entire experience. I asked how much something was and then I was charged more. Get your prices right. Second I was given the Nata, but not my coffee. Waited like 5 minutes, had to get up from the table and ask for the coffee. Please give me both things at the same time. Third nata wasn't hot and I requested it to be hot at the beginning. Therefore I have to get up from the table again and have them heat it up. Now I have my coffee without the nata 🤦 please get it right it's not that hard to do, Especially in a...

-ENG- Place is run by a Portuguese and you can find typical Portuguese cod fish dishes. I was pretty much surprised though to find a lasagna on the menu instead of the famous francesinha (typical Portuguese northern dish from the city of Braga, where the owner is from). We ordered two cod fish dishes and we liked them. They do have a Portuguese beer (SuperBock) and the famous pasteis de nata. Waiter was very kind and friendly. Would come back. Voltaria.

These Portuguese custard tarts are the best I've ever had. Just like the ones you get in Portugal featuring flaky butter pastry and custard with the edition of kit kat, chocolate, banana and many other flavours which takes its up to another level They are crispy, buttery, gooey goodness Amazing
