We were so depressed after discovering that our favorite restaurant in Phnom Penh, the Tiger's Eye has closed, but lo and behold, we were so happy to have discovered Fat Passion - a quirky little restaurant across the Royal University of Fine Arts that comes close in filling that gap! First and foremost, let me state that Fat Passion is a truly different beast, but that essence of fine handcrafted and artistic cuisine runs through this little joint. It's far from being fine dining but the pure magic and soul that is peppered into each dish is simply enchanting. Run by a LONE CHEF and a lovely assistant who also does the drinks and the serving, this is pure passion brought into each dish, meticulously turned into a work of art.
We had the shrimp and crab ravioli which was a pure joy. Their signature platter with mackerel mouse and grilled eggplant dip was fantastic and my meat eating fellow diners devoured the crispy bacon and grilled corn with gusto.
Every single thing that came out from that small kitchen was pure theatre in the slightest sense.
This is such a great discovery and the mere mention of Fat Passion will make me drive all the way to Phnom Penh just to have a bite of their cuisine.
A truly remarkable little spot that deserve a top spot in our hearts and tummies.

Read moreFrom the moment we walked in there was a nice welcome and a good atmosphere . Modern decor in a steampunk vibe. Menu is very creative and varied. Much of the menu items are barbecued in view in the open kitchen. We shared a dish of the chicken wings which were beautifully flavoured and seasoned. One of us had the bbq ribs with pickled vegetables which I wasn’t sure about when I saw them on menu but they were a fantastic accompaniment. The other main course was the aged beef , bacon & cheese sliders which were amazing. Fantastic flavours and the sauce on the side was out of this world. Seems like a fairly new business. I hope that they have the success they deserve and that things get easier in the hospitality industry. Well worth a visit. You could easily miss it as it doesn’t have much of a pavement presence. Think they could do themselves a big favour by addressing this. The staff are extremely welcoming and professional with a very good understanding of the English language.
Very highly recommended it’s been the best food we have had in Cambodia and we will...
Read moreHands down best meal I have ever had. Not only the best pasta, we had both the potato ravioli and the shrimp tortellini with prawn head foam, but also that fried chicken with honey chilli is TO DIE FOR. Like literally. I need that chicken in my life. You need to go here. If you are in Phnom Penh it's just behind the museum and around from the Palace. If you aren't, make a detour and meet this lovely, inspirational couple who served us up the best meal of my life for less that $40 for 2. These two have an incredible story and the food had me lost for words, no exaggeration. We also had the chilli & ginger cocktails which were perfectly balanced and the Chefs Platter was a mouth watering starter, complete with traditional and crispy pita cooked to perfection and a mousse that I ended up cleaning out with my fingers! I will eat here again and again with no...
