Walked into this place because I saw they had Tunisian food, I came out of an event late and wanted a bite. Never had Tunisian food before and wanted to try it. The first gentleman that helped me was a bit awkward. It seems like he might've been going through some things. I asked him what Tunisian dishes were available and he started describing something about a food paper. I was intrigued but he couldn't describe exactly what kind of dish it was or if it had meat or was a vegetarian item. These items weren't on a menu anywhere. He was also very soft spoken. Then a second gentleman popped up out of nowhere and was super friendly. He said to try the makloub and essentially described what sounded like a sandwich that was the popular street food item. He said it came with either chicken or Tuna.
I don't know why they don't advertise the Tunisian dishes more and have descriptions. The makloub was delicious: it was cheesy with a nice kick from the harissa. I got mine with black olives, no onions. I looked at the pizza, and it seemed a bit sad. The texture looked like 7-11 pizza, which I wholly do not enjoy. The funny thing is the bread on the makloub didn't seem to be the same dough. If they used it to make the pizza (and they may), I'd imagine the pizza would be terrific.
Anyway, get a makloub!
Also, I saw a review about fries that made me nervous. When they came out, the friendly dude was so excited for me to try them that he fed one to me with ketchup and mayo like I was family or his homie. I gotta tell you, my fries were delicious! I said ,"These seem air fried" and he responded enthusiastically that's the way they've been making them for awhile now. Super crispy outside, piping hot potato...

This place is nearly mythical with its feel and cryptic at times schedules.
I had it like many at first just in a whim, expecting CPU like pizza and was in for a happy surprised.
The place looks unassuming with Indian shows playing, and with Ali who is out of Seinfeld who can seem intimidating since this is his baby.
Don’t be dumb and he will be nicer and you will start to feel something new. The pizza is great in terms of feel, just the right sauce and ingredients but the Donair and it’s homemade sauce could win prizes against the absolute best.
Everyone who returns has almost a weird familiarity, and I have heard the weirdest stories in there, from a guy who chose his first meal out of jail there. To a guy who reminisced about Ali’s past and his dream of having a restaurant now realized.
I speak like this place is precious because it kinda is, but it’s the pizza that really matters.
This is Calgary’s must underrated place. If it was just more fake gritty rather than actually gritty it would be Calgary’s darling.
The price is insanely good and it’s one of those places you cannot miss out if you...
Read moreDecent food at a OK price compared to others with inflationary prices the past 2 years getting a bit out of hand. Although they were closed for a 6 weeks back in early May/June which was a pain....but is back open again & is still a great restaurant with good food, service and fair-ish prices.
When it was open before the food was pretty good back than to plus is very handy in a great area of the city and it is usually open for extremely late hours in the early morning when many other places are closed, which is much appreciated by everyone who wants good food early in the morning.
They were a 3.65 to 4.0 stars back than and now 4.00 to 4.25 stars now because they had a few pre-maid options now.
OK prices, mostly pretty decent food, but the pizza and wings are pretty good, especially when you order both on Monday to Thursday and get 15% off on all orders of anything, over $25! Medium pizza and wings gets you to $26, add on the drink so for like $28 after you get 15% off, you get a small thing of wings plus medium pizza, which with today's inflation...
