At the calgary location several months ago, I recieved a sandwich that had extra ingredients that I don't care for added to my sandwich that were not listed on either the website or the menu board in store. When I got back to the office, I noticed those extra ingredients were added and I returned to the store to get my sandwich remade without the extra ingredients, at the time I expressed my displeasure at the extra ingredients to the staff working and the fact that they were not listed. The staff remade my sandwich without issue and offered me a refund which I declined and I went on my way.
However today while walking past the store, the franchise owner came running out across the street to confront me about "yelling" at his staff (something that i did not do at the time) even though I was clearly unhappy at the time. and essentially told me that if I got upset again I would be banned from the store. I feel this was completely unnecessary, very unprofessional, and has significantly soured my feelings on both returning to the restaurant, and recommending it further to people in the future.
When I left the store yesterday, I was very happy with the customer service, and now the followup confrontation has left me very upset.
I've downgraded my review to 1 star as no acknowledgement from corporate or anybody at the company regarding this issue has come forth to spite me...
Read moreI had initially tried Meat and Bread years ago in Vancouver, and after our first visit we religiously stopped by every time we got the chance. Since adulting and covid we haven’t had the chance to make it down to Vancouver let alone Calgary, but this recent family trip gave me my opening and I was hellbent on making everyone check out of our hotels later than usual to make this my first stop of the day. At 11AM on a Friday, I was circling their shop for a good 15 minutes before I finally walked through those doors. The slab of porchetta on the counter immediately caught my eyes, and I was beyond elated. We opted for the classic Porchetta and the Meatball, both sitting at $13.50 each. Crispy pig skin sprinkled onto juicy pieces of roasted pork, sandwiched between some immaculate pieces of bread. I didn’t try the meatball but both parties enjoyed it.
Was it as good as I remember? Absolutely. Am I going to make my way over here any chance I get? Definitely. I did forget to get some sauces to go which was a downer but learning from my mistakes for a...
Read moreA New York style kind of lunch spot in downtown Calgary. It was my first time here a couple weeks back, as there was a quick break from months of freezing temperature, decided to head out to browse for a lunch. Found this spot around the corner of 8th Ave and 1st.
A place to grab and go or just a canteen style place to grab a quick lunch before heading back to work.
The sandwiches were quite interesting and the combinations all sound amazing. I had The porchetta and it was crispy and kind of like Asian BBQ pork. The rind was just like a chip, not too heavy, just the right amount of tenderness. The paired salsa was just the right flavor to lighten the pork.
It's 10$ for a sandwich which is pretty standard now a days for good quality meats. The closest thing similar would be the butcher and baker in bow valley square. Portions are definitely not huge like subway, more like a Timmy's panini size.
If you want something different and would like a stroll through downtown. Definitely check...
