Bubble Waffle Cafe — Restaurant in Coquitlam

My rate is based from the overall aesthetics and service of the cafe.

It's inside Coquitlam Center and it's situated along some of the food stalls. From both the outside and the inside, the place gives you the ambiance of a bubble-tea house... The menu on the overhead screen shows big photos of tea which totally made me forget that they sell waffles too.

When I decided to dine in, that's when I realized that there were more food offers than you'd expect from its name.

They have fish siao mai, hainanese chicken, noodles, tofu...and are all priced fair for their ingredients but I can't say for the taste.

I tried their combo of a noodle and a drink. This was the hainanese chicken noodle which was fine. I had the spicy kind but didn't really enjoy it as it was bland. On the other hand, the drink choice was a milk tea which tasted great.

However, the service wasn't pleasing. I have never been on a table in any cafe or restaurant where the waitress would stick your order receipt on the table. I was wondering why she did that so I looked over to other tables to see if it wasn't isolated. But I never saw the same thing done to them. 😐😔

Add to that, while I was already busy eating my orders... instead of asking how I was with the experience with the food and what not, I get uncomfortable stares from her. It wasn't really a good experience.

Nevertheless, I would still go back for their milk tea but probably not for a...

I am a big fan of Boneless Hainanese Chicken with rice and Bubble Waffles.

I have tasted few restaurants with “Bubble Waffle Cafe” brand on. I have pretty nice experience with them in Crystal Mall and Metrotown Mall.

Therefore, when I found out there is a Bubble Waffle Cafe new opened in Coquitlam Center mall. I am like “I want to taste it right a way.”

I ate here three times. The foods are fresh and decent. Spend about C$20 (including Tax and Tips), you can get a combo (one main dish, one Bubble Waffle, one drink) and a snack.

However, service is bad. First time, I went in. Seem like they just open. The lady helped me didn’t even know what on their menu. Even with a big picture and big word on the menu, she seems surprised they have Hainanese rice. Second time, I waited at their door for five minutes with nobody helped me, when they have five waiters gathered around cashier desk and talking. Then, I said:”hello? Anyone? Where can I sit?”. The ignorance continued until one of them noticed I am a customer. What a joke. Third time. After I finished my meal, I take the receipt to the cashier and want to pay. The cashier said that receipt is not mine. Then, I asked her to check it again. After she checked my table, she still says that receipt is not mine. She asked with an interrogative tone:” is this really your receipt?” Okay, if I want to bilk my bill, I can just ran away. Why I go to the cashier?...

Hire more people please!!!! My entire order was wrong!!!! The poor woman at the front of the house was all by herself making teas, bubble waffles, taking orders, answering phones, bussing tables... 20 people in the line up! I ordered online and arrived 40 minutes after because of my previous experience knowing they are busy. When I arrived my food wasn't even ready!! I asked for my food and paid. 5 minutes later I am notified that the soup base I ordered for both soups is not available and I can choose something else. Well I don't like any other soup bases but what the heck, I've already paid, so okay I'll pick something else. 20 more minutes of waiting, I finally get my order. I get home, one soup was supposed to have chicken and shrimp and the other one was supposed to have black fungus and enoki mushroom. Instead what I received was black fungus and shrimp and the other soup being chicken and enoki mushroom!! What the heck??? Okay so at least my tea is gonna be okay yes?? NOPE! I had ordered one with no sugar but lots of ice, the other one with half ice and half sugar. The things that I received though was one with tons of ice with the half sugar and absolutely no ice in the no sugar!!! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I love this restaurant to death but please hire more staff or you're losing me as a customer and this 1-star review will remain on Google...
