Saint Germain Bakery — Restaurant in Coquitlam

Order our wedding cake from from Saint Germain. We were not super fussy about what we wanted, especially since we were coming from out of town and would not be able to meet in person or even do a tasting. Asked for a simple vanilla layered cake with a vanilla buttercream, and sent a picture of what we were looking for in terms of finished looked. What we received was a gross sponge cake that had zero flavour and the cake was iced with what looked like a "crumb coating" featuring a lard or margarine based icing. In some parts you could still see the cake. To top the whole experience off, they placed the cake a large squared cake board making it extremely difficult to move on to a cake plate for display. My parents had picked up the cake for us and I did not see it until the morning of the wedding when there was no time to have the situation corrected. This whole experience was a complete fail. If at anytime they were unsure of what we wanted or needed a phone call for clarification we would have been happy to...

On May 21, I placed an order for a mango cake to be picked up at 10am on May 23 for a birthday. However, on May 22, Saint Germain called me saying the cake would not be available until 12pm on May 23. Then on the morning of May 23 at 9:40am, they called again to say the cake could not be made due to unripe mangoes. This is a very last minute cancellation for an important birthday event. I was told to come to the store for a refund. When I arrived at the bakery, I noticed three whole mango cakes displayed for sale. When I asked if they were fresh, the staff told me they were made with fresh mangos that morning. This is very unprofessional, dishonest, and unethical behaviour from Saint Germain. I have asked how this could happen, and no one has been able to provide me with an explanation. Because of this I was left scrambling to find a birthday cake...

I am a regular customer in Coquitlam centre location. My friend bought all butter cake, the particular cake had a very strong smell of egg almost smelled like fish. We both didn’t eat it because of the strong smell, so i went to ask if i can change it to something else. The customer service we received was horrible. One lady at first said if i have the receipt to change it with something else than another older lady came and said we can’t change it or do anything about it because nobody else has ever complained about it!! And she was blaming and making us look stupid for complaining. I was so shocked so we have to wait for other people to complain first? I throw the cake in the garbage cause it was not eatable. And i will make sure to tell that none of my friends shop there again with the horrible...
